Since the Disney-owned network kicked off the 2025-2026 TV cycle earlier than its peers, it started rolling out finales as early as March — months before the designated May finale period. Shows like Tim Allen and Kat Dennings' Shifting Gears season 2, as well as Kaitlin Olson's High Potential season 2 wrapped up ahead of its peers, while ABC saved the year-capper for its more established shows, like 9-1-1 season 9 and Grey's Anatomy season 22 later. Both CBS and NBC have confirmed their respective fall 2026 schedules with their confirmed premiere dates, giving the public a clear picture of what September and October are going to look like in terms of primetime offerings. Rounding up the Big Three is ABC, as it also officially confirms when their projects are releasing fresh episodes. Disney's network has announced the premiere dates for its roster after making history by renewing its whole lineup. This means that when the new cycle kicks off, the public will be very familiar with what is airing on ABC. ABC's Fall 2026 Programming Is Full Of Established Shows Credit: ABC Coming into the new season, ABC's portfolio is dominated by familiar projects. This is because the Disney network made the historic decision to renew all of its existing projects into the next cycle. This means that long-running projects, like Grey's Anatomy and 9-1-1 are confirmed to continue until at least the 2026-2027 cycle, as well as new ones, such as Scott Speedman's R.J. Decker. Beyond that, ABC's fall 2026 will also include some fan-favorite non-scripted shows, including Dancing with the Stars and Celebrity Jeopardy!. Thursday nights look the same with back-to-back 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Nashville at the top of the night and ending it with Grey's Anatomy. Meanwhile, Abbott Elementary is also keeping its 8:30pm slot on Wednesday nights, but instead of Shifting Gears as its lead up, the Scrubs revival season 2 takes its place. Meanwhile, R.J. Decker is also maintaining its Tuesday 10pm block. Following an industry trend where fall is starting later than usual, no scripted ABC show is coming back in September except for its youngest projects — Scrubs revival season 2 and RJ Decker season 2. Even Monday Night Football is kicking off a week later compared to the previous year. What's interesting here is the confusion regarding Celebrity Jeopardy!. The game show was previously confirmed for a fall 2026 return, but conflicting reports claim that it has been pushed to midseason. No official word has been shared yet by ABC or the project. What's Delayed To 2027 Midseason For ABC Disney Noticeably, ABC's fall 2026 schedule is quite thin on scripted shows — at least compared to its peers. That said, it's because some of its heavy-hitters are delayed until midseason. After the success of The Rookie and Will Trent being pushed to a winter premiere, the Disney network has also moved additional shows, including High Potential season 3 and Shifting Gears season 3 — both projects were previously set for a fall release. Aside from the aforementioned projects, one show that has yet to have a clear schedule is The Rookie: North. The latest expansion effort from Alexi Hawley has been officially ordered after a lengthy waiting process. Starring Jay Ellis, the Pacific Northwest-set offshoot has already shot a crossover episode with the flagship, making its debut all the more exciting.
