Since the event was free and being held at a popular mall on a weekend, fans began arriving well before the scheduled evening programme.The turnout quickly grew beyond what the venue could safely accommodate. Videos and reports from the venue showed fans packed inside the mall, while the crowd outside contributed to severe congestion around Velachery. The gathering also affected traffic on roads around Phoenix Mall, with motorists reportedly facing long delays for hours. According to The Hindu, a senior police officer said the organisers had not sought permission from the traffic police because the event was planned indoors. However, the police became aware of the size of the gathering and the worsening traffic situation, additional personnel were deployed.Police step in as crowd becomes uncontrollableAs the number of fans continued to increase, police officials assessed that allowing the event to proceed could pose a serious safety risk. Reports said Aadhi had reached the venue, but the sheer size of the gathering made it difficult for him to safely make his way to the stage. Police subsequently advised that the event be cancelled. Senior officials also contacted Aadhi and stopped him from proceeding with the programme, according to the account cited by The Hindu.Rather than attempting to push ahead with the celebration, Aadhi followed the police instructions and left the venue. The decision meant thousands of fans who had travelled to see him had to leave without the event taking place.Aadhi puts safety before celebrationLater that evening, Aadhi addressed fans in a video message.
