A24's Twisted New Movie Slayground Unveils A New Kind Of Horror

Slayground, which debuts in theaters on January 29, 2027, is a new A24 horror movie that was written and directed by Jeremy Saulnier. After kicking off his directorial career with cult successes, he made a splash with his violent 2015 A24 thriller Green Room, following that up with the Jeffrey Wright neo-Western Hold the Dark and the Aaron Pierre thriller Rebel Ridge. Slayground has attracted more notable stars to its cast, including Cory Michael Smith (Gotham), Chase Sui Wonders (The Studio), Sophie Wilde (Talk to Me), James Badge Dale (24), Stephen Root (Widow's Bay), and Imogen Poots (Green Room). A24 has released the official trailer for Slayground. It opens with a series of ominous shots while a woman addresses "Michael" in voiceover and invites him to address the events of October 24. The action then cuts to the employees of a scare attraction called "Slayground" getting ready for work, interspersed with more ominous shots and a police officer describing a mass casualty incident. As further quick shots flood the screen (including multiple vehicles converging on the forest, where it seems there may be a showdown), it becomes clear that this aforementioned incident did occur at Slayground and that multiple people are trying to figure out exactly what happened there. This includes Imogen Poots' character, who begs a wounded man to help them bring the truth to light. Before the title card drops while underscored by a metal guitar riff, more quick shots offer glimpses of what happened at Slayground, including a masked character running a giant weapon along a metal fence, causing sparks to fly.
