Sign in to your ScreenRant account The Super Nintendo brought us countless memorable RPGs, from Chrono Trigger to EarthBound. It was the perfect system for beautiful pixel art and story-driven games to leave their mark on the gaming world. Besides RPGs, we also got so many classics that are still remembered fondly, like Super Metroid and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. We know all these games today because they made it big worldwide, through localization and release in different parts of the world. Sadly, not every classic game got this treatment, earning us several hidden gems that not everyone got to experience. One such SNES classic is now finally getting a worldwide release for the first time ever—and it finally has a release date. Terranigma Officially Has A Release Date Terranigma is an action-RPG about a boy named Ark who's tasked with restoring the world. The title was developed by Quintet and released in 1995. It was the third game in an unofficial trilogy from the developers (the other two being Soul Blazer, and Illusion of Gaia). The game was backed by Enix in Japan and Nintendo in Europe and Australia. Enix was also supposed to localize and release the title in North America, but the company's North American offices closed the following year and the game was lost to time. For over 30 years, the rights to the game hovered in limbo, and the game never made it to North American players... until now. Clear River Games has officially announced that the Terranigma re-release will be released on January 14, 2027. Terranigma Finally Gets The Chance It Deserves Terranigma is officially making a comeback thanks to Clear River Games, which picked up the rights to re-releasing the game for everyone to enjoy for the first time. The team has lovingly recreated and ported the title for modern consoles, retaining both its original charm—down to an optional CRT filter—and adding several Quality of Life improvements. The new features include useful additions such as a mini-map, quick magic button, remappable controls, item hot-swap, and much more. The re-release of the classic Super Nintendo title, Terranigma, will launch on January 14, 2027 for the Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, PS4 and 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC (via Steam and GOG). In keeping with classic SNES games, the console version will be available digitally or physically, allowing fans to choose between the Standard Edition, SteelBook Edition, and Gaia Edition.
