Bharat, a resident of Maraimalai Nagar, says, “Following an accident involving a woman we have been demanding that the traffic wing of the Tambaram Police Commissionerate facilitate a pedestrian signal, but a vehicle-signalled facility has been installed. Pedestrians cannot walk till the footbridge, come here, and go towards Kattankulathur. A pedestrian signal is needed. Pedestrians run and dodge vehicles.”Within half a kilometre from the junction, a footbridge exists, but it serves only bus commuters and pedestrians around Vallal Adhiyaman Salai and Vallal MGR Street.
