Image via Arnon Manor and Kelsey Bascom Published Oct 22, 2026, 1:00 PM EDT A cinematic obsessive with the filmic palate of a starving raccoon, Rob London will watch pretty much anything once. With a mind like a steel trap, he's an endless fount of movie and TV trivia, borne from a misspent youth of watching monster movies on TV, perusing the sun-faded goods at the local video rental shop, and staining his fingers with ink from the Video Movie Guide. Areas of interest include science fiction, film noir, horror flicks, '70s disaster pictures, Bond movies, '90s action, giant robots, dinosaurs, super heroes, and the exuberantly schlocky output of Cannon Films. He also enjoys both Star Trek and Star Wars when they're good, and maybe even more when they're bad. As a Canadian, he also has a vested interest in Canadian movies and TV shows, especially the cheesier ones dubbed "Canuxploitation." An expert on Marvel Comics, he has also written for the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, and is a member of the Marvel Research Team. He can frequently be found pontificating on comic-book continuity or bemoaning the misfortunes of the Toronto Maple Leafs on his Twitter account. Sign in to your Collider account Having a quarter-life crisis is hard, and it's even harder when you have type 1 diabetes. That's what Kelly finds out in the new indie comedy-drama Quarter, which is set to be released on November 13, just in time for World Diabetes Day on November 14. Before that, Collider is proud to exclusively present the first trailer and poster for Quarter. Quarter was written by Kelsey Bascom, who based it on her own experiences as a young diabetic. She co-directed the movie with Arnon Manor, who worked with Bascom on the TV series Mondays, and also plays the lead role. Brooke Shields (You're Killing Me) serves as an executive producer on the film, and also co-stars. Diabetes is a personal matter for Shields: her daughter, Rowan Henchy, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as a teenager. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year, where Shields advocated for it as "one of the first type 1 diabetes movies." In the trailer, Kelly (Bascom) is about to turn 25. She's always been the quiet, solitary type: she was the librarian's assistant in high school, even though the book dust triggered her asthma. However, when she has a near-death experience thanks to dangerously low blood sugar, she starts to rethink her life. She feels more alive in her own head than in a room full of people, but maybe that's about to change. The film follows her as she explores her world and her disability with the help of her family, her co-workers, and her unusually vivid imagination. Can she bring her inner voice out and expand her social circle? You'll have to find out when Quarter premieres on November 13; tickets are available at CinemaVillage.com. REVEAL MY ERA → The Era Is Announced You Belong In…With The Life of a Showgirl getting an encore edition this week, the era argument is live all over again. Here is yours, what it says about you, and the case for it being the best one she has made. 1989You are the reinvention. 1989 is the record where she walked away from the thing that made her famous and rebuilt everything from scratch, and it worked so completely that people forgot there had ever been a risk. You are at your best when you have decided to become somebody slightly new, and you commit to it in public. This is the album that won her a second Album of the Year, making her the first woman ever to take the award twice. The era ran on friendship and the city, and you are the one who organises everybody and then gets photographed doing it. Your risk is the same as the album's, which is that the polish can start doing the work that honesty used to. ReputationYou are the one who stopped explaining. Reputation arrived after a year of being written off, with almost no interviews and no attempt to be liked, and it turned out that saying nothing was the loudest available option. You go silent when you are hurt, and people mistake that for weakness right up until it is very clear that it was not. She released it with no press campaign at all, which had never worked for anybody and worked enormously here. The joke about this album is that half of it is armour and the other half is the softest love songs she had written. You would rather be underestimated than misunderstood, and you keep receipts on everybody either way. FolkloreYou are the quiet one who was paying attention the whole time. Folklore appeared with less than a day of warning, made entirely indoors, and swapped autobiography for invented characters who somehow felt more personal than the real ones. You process things by writing them down or turning them into a story, and you would rather be read than watched. It won Album of the Year at the 2021 Grammys, her third, and it was made by people who never shared a room. The teenage love triangle running across three songs is the most fun anybody had with a tracklist that decade. You notice the small thing in a room that everybody else walks past, and you will still be thinking about it next week. RedYou feel everything at maximum volume and you have never apologised for it. Red is the messiest album she has made and the one most people love best, because it is the sound of somebody refusing to be reasonable about how much something hurt. You hold onto things, you replay them, and you can still describe a conversation from years ago line by line. All Too Well became a ten minute song and a short film she directed herself, and it went to number one anyway. The whole record is autumn, and you are the person who treats a season like a personality trait. Nothing here is cool and that is the point, which is why it has aged better than almost anything around it. ↻ RETAKE THE QUIZ Who Else Stars in 'Quarter'? In addition to Bascome and Shelds, Quarters boasts a veteran cast, including Ali Wentworth (Jerry Maguire), Raven-Symoné (That’s So Raven), Tati Gabrielle (Mortal Kombat II), Breckin Meyer (Clueless), Eric Roberts (Runaway Train), Matty Cardarople (Stranger Things), Mindy Sterling (Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery), Dot-Marie Jones (Glee), Derek Theler (Baby Daddy), Brec Bassinger (Final Destination Bloodlines), Arden Myrin (The Righteous Gemstones), Nick Creegan (Batwoman), and Gavin Lewis (Little Fires Everywhere). Quarter will be released on November 13. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
