A cafe entirely dedicated to tiramisu is about to open in central London

Anyone fancy a cheeky Tiramisu? I know just the place (Picture: Marrone) Do you dream of summers in Italy? Long days spent eating some of the best food Europe has to offer? Well, Portofino may be over 800 miles away, but thankfully, you can still find delicious Italian delicacies much closer to home. In just a few weeks, Soho will be welcoming an exciting new vendor to its busy streets. Marrone, founded by second-generation Italian Giancarlo Fanigliulo, is a café dedicated entirely to the most iconic Italian dessert to exist: Tiramisu. The first of its kind in the capital, Londoners have already expressed their excitement on social media. Counting down the days till the café opens its doors, one Instagram user, @mss_garvey exclaimed: ‘This is my dream come true.’ Marrone is expected to officially open to the public on August 15, settling on Sherwood Street – just a three-minute walk from Piccadilly Circus. Focusing on quality over quantity, the café will launch with a deliberately limited menu featuring three flavours it hopes will win customers over. There’s, of course, the ‘original’ – a traditional tiramisu made using Estate Dairy cream and dark roasted espresso. Next up is the ‘DOP pistachio’, made with Sicilian Bronte pistachios from Mount Etna in Sicily and topped with pistachio drizzle and a pistachio crumb. Given how popular pistachio has become over the past year, this will definitely be a crowd-pleaser. And last but not least, there’s a dark chocolate and Maldon sea salt tiramisu that features decadent chocolate from premium French chocolate manufacturer Valrhona. So far, the response online has been overwhelmingly positive, with sweet treat fanatics describing the desserts as ‘delicious’ and ‘absolutely divine’. Commenting underneath one of the café’s recent Instagram posts, @littlebakesbygem shared: ‘Just hearing about this now – very excited for the August opening!’ @lau.gecko added: ‘OH MY!! I will be there opening day. Mark my words. Literally Tiramisus biggest fan.’ One user, @Kate_mcintyre, even joked that she ‘might have to break my dairy free diet for this.’ The pistachio tiramisu looks to die for (Picture: Marrone) Freshly made in-store with ‘carefully selected ingredients’, you won’t find Marrone’s goodies dunked into cheap cardboard tubs. Instead, each dessert is served in a sleek, personalised glass jar. According to the establishment: ‘Every layer deserves to be seen.’ For anyone who’s sober or committing to a sober summer, you’ll also be pleased to know that all the flavours come in alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions. Marrone has shared that the plan will be to incorporate seasonal flavours in the future. If you’re in Soho, keep an eye out for Marrone’s iconic vintage van (Picture: Marrone) Keen to make sure every London borough has the opportunity to sample a taste of Italy, Giancarlo’s original plan also included restoring a vintage 1972 Piaggio Ape three-wheeled van and driving it across the capital, delivering tiramisu as he went. However, due to some unforeseen circumstances (which we’re still being kept out of the loop about), that’s not currently possible. For now, the sweet little branded van is parked outside the shop instead. But Marrone insists it’s only temporary, so keep your eyes peeled.
