A Beginner's Guide To Modding Star Wars Zero Company

Published Sep 10, 2026, 10:20 PM EDT Star Wars Zero Company is developing a passionate modding community. This is despite the fact that the game doesn't actually have official mod support, making it a little harder for both mod authors and enthusiasts. However, it certainly isn't impossible. If you're playing Star Wars Zero Company on PC, you just have to take a few more steps before you start downloading whatever you'd like from Nexus Mods. Here's how to get started on your Star Wars Zero Company modding journey, and some great mods to try out. Install UE4SS For Star Wars Zero Company Because Star Wars Zero Company doesn't have official mod support, any would-be modders will have to get by without a shared framework right out of the box. Luckily, modders are used to working with games like this. UE4SS is an open-source plugin that makes it easier to mess with games running on Unreal Engine 4 and 5. UE4SS is made with modders in mind, so many mods for Star Wars Zero Company will need the following download to function: UE4SS for Star Wars Zero Company. Install it before you go after anything else. Really, this is an optional step. But if you're new to modding, I highly recommend ZCOM Mod Manager. As with any mod manager, this tool lets you select any mod you've downloaded and have it installed in the correct location automatically. This also lets you turn off certain mods with the press of a button, rather than having to follow the uninstall process every time you want to get rid of something. Many of the most popular mods are compatible with the ZCOM Mod Manager. If a mod isn't compatible, you will get a pop-up saying that it was unable to install the mod for you. You can choose to install mods manually, but keep track of what you've installed this way, in case there's a chance it's conflicting with something else later on. Start Browsing, And Consider What Kind Of Experience You're After The go-to place for Star Wars Zero Company mods is Nexus Mods. Here, there's a good selection no matter what you're after. Mods will likely stop working after an update. Make sure a mod has been updated since the last update before you use it. Gameplay Tweaks Squad Six - Six Unit Deployment: Lets you take six operators out on missions, rather than the usual four. Fight Harder - More and Tougher Enemies: Recommended alongside the above mod to make combat harder, since you have more operators. Mission and Campaign Time Control: So you can freeze time at will and not miss out on any missions. Aftermath DLC: Lets you keep playing after the credits roll (Toggle off when you do a new playthrough, as you're only supposed to install this when you've beaten the game). Cosmetic Additions Expanded Wardrobe and Customization: Gives you more outfit and armour options to choose from, including ones that are usually gated off to specific NPCs. Zabrak and Devaronian Hair: Gives them access to other humanoid hairstyles, rather than be restricted. Character Creator Unlocked: Gives you access to every possible character creator option. That includes unique faces for characters like Jae, Bennic, and even Palpatine, as well as some additional hairstyles. Also lets you play as all available species in-game Do note that it can conflict with other areas in the game, and made the actual Jae's face much less detailed for me. Tips And Tricks If you've decided to go ahead and start modding your game, keep the following in mind. Is the mod you're looking at compatible with the mod manager you're using? If so, great! If not, you'll have to install it manually. Make sure the mods you're installing have no conflicts with any other mods you're using. A mod manager can help with this. If something isn't working right (assets disappear, game crashes), that could mean there's a conflict because the two mods are trying to do the same thing. If the game gets a patch or update, check to see if your mods need updates, too. Read. The. Instructions. Do not assume anything. On that note, also check the comment sections to make sure others who have used the mod haven't spotted any egregious issues.
