Now, the situation has changed. We have more graduates than the vacancies available to accommodate under compulsory rural service,” said an official of the department. The compulsory service lasts for one year. If any candidate quits in the middle of the service, they will be penalised. If a candidate is absent from service for 30 days, there will be no option to rejoin; instead, they must pay a penalty of approximately ₹15 lakh.Doctors must register on the Mobile Based Real Time Attendance System (KAMS) from the date of reporting. Completion certificates will only be issued after fulfilling this requirement and successfully completing the one-year term. However, graduates who are obligated to compulsory government medical service are not allowed to attend medico-legal cases.
