Speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald, Debbie said: “It was in my early 40s. I had been doing reality shows, and I was on a show about real estate. Most read in Showbiz “I did not have the money to be buying a $10 million apartment in New York City at that time, but – because these shows are supposed to be aspirational – the show didn’t want to do tours of $3000-a-month rentals. That kind of dishonesty felt like I was selling my soul a bit. “It was a symptom of how I started in the music business. When you start out you’re told you’re supposed to do whatever is asked of you to sell records.” Comment now
