Published Nov 6, 2026, 4:00 PM EST A new anime show, a returning sports drama, and a cooking documentary Image: Hulu Happy weekend! It’s an important month for some of the year’s biggest TV genre releases, from the new season of The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power, which has been billed as a soft reboot, to the final season of Yellowjackets, to Netflix’s new exorcist-teen horror comedy The Body. We’re not there just yet, but here are a few TV shows to tide you over. Bass X Machina is out on Netflix, featuring great voice actors like Brian Tyree Henry and Tati Gabrielle in a story set in the Steampunk West that’s crawling with crime and chaos. It looks awesome. There’s also the second season of Owen Wilson’s Stick, and Kim Kardashian’s All’s Fair, which is rounded out by one of the craziest and most talented TV casts I can think of, including Sarah Paulson, Glenn Close, Niecy Nash-Betts, Teyana Taylor and Naomi Watts. Keira Knightley and Ben Whishaw return for the second season of Black Doves, Netflix’s British spy thriller exploring two old friends who reunite for a dangerous and complicated mission. If you’re looking for documentaries and reality TV, we’ve also got some recommendations. Netflix’s latest true-crime series is called Taken: Natalee Holloway, consisting of three episodes tracing the disappearance of a teenage high school graduate who was vacationing in Aruba with her class when she went missing. There’s also Awkwafina: The Unlikely Cook, a cooking show exploring the actress's connection to the restaurant industry and her journey towards learning how to cook by visiting different culinary institutions across the country. Key appearances include Roy Choi, Awkwafina’s culinary guide, Jimmy O’Yang, her comedian best friend, Martin Yan, a famous Hong Kong chef and food writer, and her grandmother, who serves as the final judge on whether or not Awkwafina learned how to cook. 1 Bass X Machina Image: Netflix Available on Netflix Genre: Animation Episode count: 6 Cast: Brian Tyree Henry, Tati Gabrielle, Joy Ofodu Bass X Machina follows the fictional adventures of Bass Reeves, the real first Black deputy U.S. Marshal. The series is set in a lawless American frontier that’s equipped with Steampunk technology, taking place after the Civil War, with Reeves fighting off rising Confederate forces. Per our Polygon review: Created by LeSean Thomas and Studio Mir, who both worked on The Legend of Korra, Bass X Machina is a reimagining of the story of Bass Reeves (Brian Tyree Henry), an escaped slave who worked in Indian Territory as a deputy U.S. Marshal. Reeves’ real life was extraordinary, and is said to have inspired the character of the Lone Ranger, but Bass X Machina also gives him a cybernetic arm that shoots magic bullets. The criminals he fights get even bigger upgrades, and the stakes can at times escalate to truly ludicrous levels. Henry does an especially great job expressing exasperation as Bass faces plenty of absurd foes, like an outlaw in a rampaging bull mech that requires complex cooperation to take down. 2 Stick Image: Apple TV Available on Apple TV Genre: Comedy-drama Episode count: 10 Cast: Owen Wilson, Peter Dager, Lili Kay While the words “Owen Wilson” and “golf” bring to mind something like a Happy Madison adapted to TV, Stick has a more dramatic edge. The series follows Pryce “Stick” Cahill (Wilson), a once-promising golfer who lost his career after a public meltdown on the green. He finds a shot at redemption and some purpose when he comes across a promising 17-year-old golfer (Peter Dager). 3 All’s Fair Available on Hulu Genre: Drama Episode count: 8 Cast: Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts, Teyana Taylor All’s Fair is Ryan Murphy’s star vehicle for Kim Kardashian, inspired by her journey with the law, a career she’s pursued publicly over the past couple of years. The show follows a group of elite female divorce lawyers who leave their old law firm to branch out on their own. They form their own practice, representing women involved in high-cost celebrity divorces. 4 Taken: Natalee Holloway Image: Netflix Available on Netflix Genre: Documentary Episode count: 3 Cast: N/A The new Netflix documentary series consists of three parts, exploring the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, an 18-year-old who went missing in 2005 while on a graduation trip with her classmates in Aruba. The case captivated the nation, with her declared dead in 2012, after years of investigations and authorities never finding her body. 5 Black Doves Image: Netflix Available on Netflix Genre: Thriller Episode count: 6 episodes Cast: Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw, Sarah Lancashire Black Doves follows two old friends who lead normal day-to-day lives. By night, they are spies and part of a secretive organization called the Black Doves, handling sensitive missions. The show’s second season raises the stakes by throwing Helen (Knightley) into a more complicated landscape: her husband (Andrew Buchan) has just become Prime Minister. 6 The Greatest Image: Prime Video Available on Prime Video Genre: Sports-drama Episode count: 8 Cast: Jaalen Best, Omari Hardwick, Dana Gourrier Prime Video’s new \show takes on one of the greatest sports icons of all time: Muhammad Ali.
