Senior police officials discuss security arrangements for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Bhogapuram airport, in Vizianagaram district on Friday. | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement Some 7,000 police personnel will be deployed in and around the Bhogapuram airport for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport on August 1 (Saturday).The police will have to coordinate both security and traffic, with nearly three lakh people likely to attend the inaugural function. Traffic management is going to be the biggest task, as people from all the north Andhra districts will arrive at the airport for the function.Additional Director General N. Madhusudana Reddy, Inspectors General K. Srikanth and A. Ravi Krishna, Visakhapatnam Range IG Gopinath Jatti and other officials have held several review meetings at the Command Control Room set up on the airport premises.They discussed the parking of nearly 6,000 vehicles, the movement of VIPs from the parking area to the dais, crowd management at different places, and the management of the 13,000 children who will perform the Dhimsa dance.On the suggestion of the police, the revenue administration has planned food counters at different places instead of putting all of them on the airport premises. The counters will be set up at Chelluru, Pusapatirega and other places. People arriving by bus from different routes will be guided to their parking places and food courts.Vizianagaram Superintendent of Police A.R. Damodar said senior officials had asked the personnel to maintain perfect coordination until the end of the Prime Minister’s visit.Senior officials inspected the venue of the public meeting and expressed satisfaction. Special Chief Secretary M.T. Krishna Babu, Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy, Joint Collector S. Sedhu Madhavan and other officials have been overseeing the arrangements for the visit.
