7 Most Powerful Characters In Avatar: Seven Havens

Avatar: Seven Havens introduces several powerful new benders, though the world looks very different in this dark new era. Set 225 years after The Legend of Korra in 399AG (after the genocide of the Air Nomads), the world has been ravaged by an event known as the Cataclysm. Every year, fewer benders are born. The walled city of Ellora, one of the seven titular Havens, struggles to protect its citizens; benders are conscripted — sometimes against their will — into the elite bending brigade. Though the people of Ellora have learned to survive harsh conditions, even the city's most skilled benders would falter against some of Avatar: The Last Airbender's and The Legend of Korra's strongest characters. There aren't as many resources, and given the scale of destruction Korra allegedly caused, much of the world's bending knowledge seems to have been lost. With at least three more seasons confirmed, though, the new (and newly split) Team Avatar may yet uncover some incredible tricks and secrets. While most of Avatar: Seven Havens' strongest characters are well-trained in one of the primary elemental bending disciplines, a few have demonstrated an affinity for more specialized, sub-bending techniques, including sandbending, lightningbending, and the incredibly powerful skill of energybending. After Avatar: Seven Havens season 1's game-changing finale, these characters will only grow stronger. Jae (Airbender) Credit: Paramount+ One of the first characters viewers meet in Avatar: Seven Havens is the kind-hearted Jae (Major Curda), a talented airbender in the bending brigade. As Captain Karthik's protégé, his skills, patience, and loyalty earned him a chance to command his own bending squad. Still, he soon discovered the truth about this era's new Avatars and joined the secretive White Lotus society, intent on protecting twins Pavi and Nisha. Throughout the show, Jae shows off his considerable control and power. He's very good at maneuvering his air skimmer, and consistently helps save Elloran citizens from the Anomaly's terrifying attacks, even helping the twins hold back its spirit energy. Most importantly, Karthik trusts him to teach the girls about the importance of meditation and spiritual balance, a skill that later helps Nisha commune with a spirit. Zi (Firebender) Credit: Paramount+ Zi (Dianne Doan) is one of the most interesting characters in Avatar: Seven Havens. The current Queen of the Faceless, Zi led several successful raids throughout Ellora. During the bandits' operation to steal grain from Ellora's industrial mill, she single-handedly took down two of Jae's squad mates, conjuring sharp, flaming daggers. When Jae accidentally stumbled upon the Faceless' underground hideout, Jae, Pavi, and Nisha only managed to arrest Zi by combining their strengths after the Anomaly's surprise attack, though her fellow rebels soon freed her from prison. Zi is also a skilled lightningbender. In the season 1 finale, she uses lightningbending to break up a rock slide, saving civilians during Ellora's evacuation. Agam (Earthbender) Credit: Paramount+ The original Faceless Queen, Agam (Sakina Jaffrey), is a powerful and wise earthbender. Determined to free benders from conscription in Ellora, she reveals her true identity at Kayoko's ill-fated Haven summit, using not only her considerable earthbending skills but the lesser-practiced sub-bending technique of sandbending to help her fellow bandits subdue Kayoko's guards and duel against Nisha. She also has the ability to read a person's spiritual energy. After saving Pavi and Nisha from a sandstorm, she discovers that all of Pavi's chakras are blocked, while Nisha is "overflowing" with energy. Later, during Ellora's evacuation, Agam once again demonstrates her strength, using her earthbending to build a wall to hold back the Anomaly's energy and catch a massive boulder threatening to crush the evacuees. Karthik (Airbender) Credit: Paramount+ Karthik (Akshay Khanna) is a master airbender, a worthy successor to The Legend of Korra's Tenzin. His skills and deeds earned him the rank of commander in the bending brigade, all while hiding his true role as the Head Lotus in Ellora. His nickname is "The Human Hurricane." It suits him well; he has no trouble defending against several attackers at once. Interestingly, Karthik can also use one of the Avatar universe's darkest airbending techniques. In Avatar: Seven Havens season 1, episode 5, "The One Left Behind," Karthik uses his airbending to suck the air out of an Elloran guard's lungs before he can reveal what he knows about the Avatar. This suffocation technique was most commonly used by The Legend of Korra villain Zaheer, a Red Lotus member who used the trick to try to kill former Avatar Korra. Korra (Former Avatar) Though Korra (Cia Court) is no longer alive during Avatar: Seven Havens, her character still has an enormous impact on the show. She's blamed for the world's destruction, and her reputation directly affects Nisha and Pavi's lives, forcing them to hide their true selves from the citizens of Ellora. In the finale, Pavi even connects with a constellation-shaped, faded version of Korra's spirit. This doesn't mean the Avatar Cycle is fully fixed, but it does mean Pavi and Nisha will likely deal with Korra again in the future. In the Avatar world, Korra is one of the strongest characters; she has mastered every primary element and several sub-bending techniques, including metalbending, energybending, spiritbending, and healing. Whatever truly happened during the Cataclysm — Seven Havens' flashbacks imply it's related to Korra's energy and spiritbending abilities — Korra's power must have been formidable before her death. Nisha (Current Avatar) Credit: Paramount+ At just nine years old, Nisha (Aishu Devan) is a formidable Avatar. After training with Karthik for a few years, Nisha has solid mastery over all four elements, though she's also prone to bursts of recklessness and anger, hindering her focus and bending control. She also has the instinctual ability to energybend, which she demonstrated time and again whenever the Anomaly appeared to terrorize Ellora. When the Anomaly's energy dome threatened to overwhelm Ellora, she held it back on her own. Most astonishingly, however, is that Nisha inadvertently created the Anomaly. After learning that her parents planned to abandon her and take her sister with them, Nisha was overwhelmed by her fear and sadness. Her fear transformed the spiritual energy around her. Sadly, a lightning burst from the Anomaly caused a rockslide, crushing the twins' parents and Pavi's leg. Nisha needs to overcome her fear of abandonment to become a better Avatar. Hopefully, Karthik can help her, especially now that she's been accepted as the Avatar and her sister has left to travel to another Haven. Pavi (Current Avatar) Credit: Paramount+ Before they were reunited, Pavi (Saheli Khan) and Nisha led very different lives. Pavi never had any formal bending training. Even so, much like her sister, she can competently wield all four elements, already a step ahead of both Aang and Korra when their respective shows started. Pavi's bending is creative, more defensive than offensive. She can also energybend, just like Pavi, and she later discovers what's been holding her bending back. Agam reveals that Pavi's seven chakras are blocked, restricting the flow of energy through her body. As explained in Avatar: The Last Airbender, blocked chakras can suppress a bender's powers — an Avatar needs all seven chakras open to access the Avatar State. In the season finale, after learning the truth about what happened to her parents, Pavi rejects her fear and accepts her role as the Avatar. This unblocks her root chakra and gives her a temporary burst of Avatar State-like power called the "Chakra State." In the end, Pavi destroys the Anomaly's dome on her own, redirecting its spirit energy into the sky. Avatar: Seven Havens season 2 will see Pavi and Nisha go their separate ways; Nisha will stay in Ellora with Karthik, while Pavi and Jae will travel to another Haven, the Floating Isles, where Pavi will attempt to unblock her second chakra. The girls and Avatar: Seven Havens' other most powerful characters still have a lot left to learn. All episodes of Avatar: Seven Havens season 1 are streaming now on Paramount+.
