6-foot cobra hides under toilet seat in Gurugram home, rescue team breaks it open

A six-foot spectacled cobra was found hiding under a toilet seat in a Gurugram house and was rescued after a lengthy operation.6-foot cobra hides under toilet seat in Gurugram home A six-foot-long spectacled cobra was rescued after it was found hiding under a toilet seat at a house in Gurugram’s Garhauli Kalan village.Panic gripped the residents of the house after they heard a continuous hissing sound from inside the toilet seat, but were unable to spot the snake.Soon after, wildlife conservator Anil Gandas was called to the spot who carefully tapped the toilet seat, following which the hissing became louder.The toilet seat was then broken open, as a highly venomous spectacled cobra was spotted hiding in a narrow space underneath it. After a lengthy rescue operation, the team safely removed the snake from the house. Watch the video here:Anil said increasing urbanisation and ongoing construction were rapidly reducing forests and fields, leaving snakes with less natural habitat and food. As a result, snakes are increasingly entering residential areas and homes in search of rats and other food. He said around 70 snakes were rescued in Gurugram in August alone, while the total number of rescues had crossed 200 in the past three months.Residents have been advised to remain vigilant during the monsoon season.
