6 am shows, Rs 2,250 tickets: Yash's Toxic mania begins in Mumbai

Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is still two days away from its theatrical release, but theatres in Mumbai have already put in place an unusually packed schedule for Yash’s return to the big screen. Early morning shows, late-night screenings and premium ticket rates in Mumbai and Bengaluru have added to the anticipation around the film ahead of its August 26 release.Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film marks Yash’s first major theatrical release after KGF: Chapter 2, the blockbuster that made him a pan-India star. Advance bookings opened days before release, and the response appears to have encouraged exhibitors to add more shows, with several screenings reportedly moving towards houseful status as the release date approaches.In Mumbai, some theatres have scheduled shows as early as 6 am, while others are set to begin screenings around 7 am. At select properties, the last shows are scheduled at 11:45 pm and will end at around 3 am. The city, in particular, has an extensive line-up, with screenings beginning shortly after sunrise and continuing well into the night.Ticket prices have also drawn attention. At Jio World Drive in Bandra, the highest listed ticket price for Toxic is reportedly Rs 2,250, including taxes. In Bengaluru, premium tickets at Forum Rex Walk are reportedly priced at Rs 2,181, including taxes. Several other multiplexes in Mumbai and Bengaluru are also selling tickets priced above Rs 1,500. Taken together, the early starts, packed schedules and premium pricing indicate that Toxic is being presented as more than a routine release. This kind of scheduling is often linked to films that arrive with strong fan interest, and Yash’s latest release appears to be generating that response. Audiences turning up for 6 am shows and, in some cases, paying more than Rs 2,000 for a seat underlines the level of anticipation around the film.The film features Yash alongside Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. Unlike the KGF franchise, Toxic has been presented as a very different project. The makers have built curiosity around its darker, stylised world through its teaser, songs and trailer, and an English-language trailer was also released as part of the wider promotional campaign. The film’s path to release has not been straightforward. Toxic was originally scheduled for March 2026, a date that would have put it in competition with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge. It later moved away from that date, was then pushed to June and postponed again before August 26 was finalised.Now, after months of changes to its release plan, Toxic is set to arrive in cinemas on August 26.
