Welcome to Halloween weekend! There are plenty of horror movies and shows to stream this weekend. Only one of these shows fits the bill for spooky season, and it's our top pick of the weekend. It's the return of the serial killer who targets other criminals who have slipped through the cracks of the criminal justice system. As for what else is on streaming, a Netflix documentary about a late Friends star has been trending all week. HBO Max welcomes one of its most underrated dramas, while a new Apple TV crime drama begins its run. Finally, ABC News has a new special out about a polarizing figure who happens to be the subject of the most talked-about movie in America. 5 The Dropout – Who Is Elizabeth Holmes? Theranos is back in the news Credit: ABC The only movie anyone wants to talk about is You Can See Everything, Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim's riveting documentary about Elizabeth Holmes. In 2023, Fielder and a camera crew were granted permission to begin filming Holmes and her family roughly 34 days before she enters prison. The movie rewrites the rules of documentaries, and it will undoubtedly go down as one of the five most talked about movies of 2026. With Holmes back in the news, ABC News revisits the Theranos saga in IMPACT x Nightline: The Dropout – Who Is Elizabeth Holmes? The special discusses the impact of You Can See Everything and its coverage of Holmes, who is currently serving a prison sentence for fraud. I'm no different from anyone else when I say Holmes is all I'm talking about with my friends. Is she a liar? Can she be trusted? Will we hear from her again? Hopefully, the special provides some answers about Holmes and the Theranos scandal. The Dropout – Who Is Elizabeth Holmes? premieres on ABC on Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. ET. Stream the next day on Disney+ and Hulu. 4 Nocturne How do you outsmart a killer? After watching the trailer for Nocturne, my mind immediately shifted toward two projects: The Silence of the Lambs and Task. The idea of interrogating a conniving serial killer to locate a victim reminds me of Dr. Hannibal Lecter. Meanwhile, the small-town Pennsylvania setting reminds me of Mark Ruffalo's excellent HBO crime drama. After working as a homicide detective in Philadelphia, Jonah Lynn (Liev Schreiber) transfers to a smaller town in Pennsylvania, hoping for a less chaotic life. Unfortunately for Lynn, his peace is quickly interrupted by Jurek Walter (Stephen Graham), an incarcerated serial killer who may hold the key to an unsolved case involving missing children. To get answers from Walter, Lynn will need help from his surrogate daughter, Saga (Zazie Beetz). Let's see if Nocturne can be as suspenseful as The Silence of the Lambs and Task. The first two episodes of Nocturne are now streaming on Apple TV. New episodes will be released weekly on Fridays. Nocturne Release Date October 30, 2026 Network Apple TV Showrunner John Hlavin, Rowan Joffe 3 The One About Matthew Perry A tragic end for a talented actor Friends is a beloved American sitcom that perfectly encapsulates the 1990s and early 2000s. One of the show's best characters was Chandler Bing, played by Matthew Perry. Chandler was the witty one who instantly became a fan favorite. In turn, Perry became a pop culture icon. Unfortunately, the 54-year-old Perry died from the acute effects of ketamine on October 28, 2023. The One About Matthew Perry is a heartbreaking three-part documentary. Fans will see archival footage of Perry becoming a star on Friends. Behind closed doors, Perry was struggling with drug and alcohol abuse. The series is an eye-opening examination of a tragic figure who died too soon. All episodes of The One About Matthew Perry are now streaming on Netflix. The One About Matthew Perry Release Date 2026 - 2026-00-00 2 The Gilded Age season 4 A beautiful period drama The Gilded Age might have the best production design on television. From the elegant costumes and lavish hairstyles to the extravagant mansions and magnificent architecture, The Gilded Age continues to be a shining example of period dramas. The Emmy-winning series returns for its fourth season, and the rivalry between Bertha Russell (Carrie Coon) and Agnes van Rhijn (Christine Baranski) intensifies. However, Bertha and Agnes have their own problems to confront within their household. Bertha has run into marital problems with her husband, George (Morgan Spector), while Agnes prepares to welcome President Grover Cleveland. If you want the drama of Downton Abbey more than the melodrama of Bridgerton, then you'll like The Gilded Age. The Gilded Age season 4 premieres on HBO and HBO Max on Nov. 1 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. New episodes will be released on Sundays. 1 Dexter: Resurrection season 2 The iconic serial killer returns Thanks to streaming reboots and sequel series, no one ever really stays dead on TV. Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) might have been left for dead in Dexter: New Blood. As we all learned in Dexter: Resurrection, the titular character survived a gunshot wound and woke up from a 10-week coma. In season 1, Dexter travels to New York City to stop his son Harrison (Jack Alcott) from following in his footsteps. In season 2, Dexter is still in the Big Apple, and he's continuing his serial killer ways by hunting down other criminals. This time, Dexter has two targets: the New York Ripper (Brian Cox) and The Five Borough Killer (Dan Stevens). Plus, Dexter still has to figure out how to be a better father to Harrison, who clearly shares some of his father's dark qualities. Dexter: Resurrection continues to keep its die-hard fans satisfied, so I don't expect it to wrap up its storylines anytime soon. The first episode of Dexter: Resurrection season 2 is now streaming on Paramount+. New episodes will be released on Fridays. What else can you watch this weekend? These five shows are just an appetizer for the weekend. Netflix has some spooky shows arriving just in time for Halloween, including Below and The Trap. As for new movies this week, Minions & Monsters on Peacock is the ideal family movie.
