What should you watch this weekend? If you're staying home to watch something on streaming, NBC has a sitcom about a newly married couple that might suit your interests. On Hulu, an intriguing mystery comedy premiered earlier this week and has already attracted attention. As for Chris Pratt, he's back for the second season of The Terminal List on Prime Video. Speaking of returns, a popular Netflix rom-com tackles the challenges of living together in a new season. Finally, my top selection of the week is a charming thriller centered on a gentlemanly thief. All five selections are available to stream in the U.S. 5 Newlyweds A good old-fashioned sitcom It's not that NBC doesn't make sitcoms anymore. The network just produces fewer of them. In the mid-2000s, NBC billed Thursday night's lineup as "Comedy Done Right" with shows like 30 Rock, The Office, and Parks and Recreation. I don't think Newlyweds will reach the heights of those three comedies, but I'm happy to see NBC still investing in sitcoms. From creators Jamie Lee Curtis—yes, the Oscar-winning actress—and Gail Lerner comes Newlyweds, a sitcom starring real-life couple Téa Leoni and Tim Daly. Jeanie and James (Daly) meet on a blind date. There's love at first sight, and then there's whatever happens between Jeanie and James, who quickly elope and tie the knot. Let's see if the laughs ensue. Newlyweds premieres on NBC on Oct. 23 at 8:30 p.m. ET. Stream the next day on Peacock. Newlyweds Release Date October 23, 2026 Network NBC Showrunner Bruce Helford 4 Phony This may or may not be my mother Connie Britton became one of America's best television mothers as Tami Taylor in Friday Night Lights. In Phony, she's playing a different kind of mother, or at least that's what we're led to believe. Sam Nivola, who broke out in The White Lotus season 3, stars as Sonny, a teenager who gets into a dangerous car accident. After waking up in a hospital bed, Sonny is greeted by his mother, Ellen (Britton), but he immediately notices something is off about her. His suspicions grow until he believes the woman claiming to be his mother is an impostor. Has Ellen changed, or is Sonny remembering things differently? Phony features some sci-fi elements that elevate this coming-of-age comedy to another level. The first two episodes of Phony are now streaming on Hulu. New episodes release weekly on Tuesdays. Phony Release Date October 20, 2026 3 The Terminal List season 2 He completed the list. Now what? It's been quite a long wait for The Terminal List, Prime Video's popular action series. Season 1 premiered in July 2022, which feels like an eternity in the television landscape. Over four years later, Pratt is back for season 2 as James Reece, the Navy SEAL who avenged the murders of his wife and mother by killing everyone involved in their deaths. Six months after the events of season 1, Reece is living at sea as his mental and physical health rapidly deteriorates. Reece remains a fugitive, and he still has a brain tumor. However, the CIA doesn't want to capture Reece. Instead, they want to use his elite skills to help with a mission to find a former agent with potential ties to al-Qaeda. The Terminal List is definitely worth watching while you wait for Reacher season 5. However, I do think Reacher beats Reece in a fight, for what it's worth. All episodes of The Terminal List season 2 are now streaming on Prime Video. 2 Nobody Wants This season 3 Will this relationship last? Nobody Wants This is an easy show to watch, and I mean that as a compliment. It's a breezy show with likable characters, low stakes, and relatable storylines. It's one of the few shows where I believe the binge-model works better than the weekly release. Plus, it's an ideal show to watch with your significant other. In season 3, Joanne Williams (Kristen Bell) and Noah Roklov (Adam Brody) are back together, and now they're going to live under one roof. With that commitment comes an assortment of problems, many of which they will have to face together. The most intriguing subplot revolves around the will-they-or-won't-they dynamic between Morgan (Justine Lupe) and Sasha (Timothy Simmons). I'm rooting for them to get together. All episodes of Nobody Wants This season 3 are now streaming on Netflix. 1 Lupin part 4 A thief with class There's no reason to limit yourself to American shows. Netflix has been one of the best streaming services for international programming. Lupin, a delightful French thriller, is one of the streamer's most popular non-English shows. Netflix offers the show in French with English subtitles, or you can listen to the English dubbed version. I prefer the former, but you should enjoy whatever format works best for you. As for the show, Omar Sy plays Assane Diop, a captivating thief modeled after Arsène Lupin. Initially, Assane sets out to prove his father's innocence after he is wrongly accused of a crime. In part 4, Assane finds himself in prison. This time, however, he must escape prison, clear his name, and uncover the identity behind the new crimes. It's time for Assane to pull another rabbit out of his hat. All episodes of Lupin part 4 are now streaming on Netflix. Lupin Release Date January 8, 2021 The streaming options are endless These are just five of the many shows and movies worth watching this weekend. If Netflix is your preferred streamer, watch The Rip and Heat, two movies that are impossible to stop watching after the first scene. Plus, head to HBO Max to watch The Invite, one of my favorite movies of the year, which is finally available to stream at home.
