5 Legendary Pokémon Stronger Than Mewtwo

To an entire generation of gamers, Mewtwo will probably always be the ultimate Legendary Pokémon. Introduced in the very first games 30 years ago, the powerful clone of Mew was first teased to players in the mysterious ruined mansion on Cinnabar Island. We're told this man-made Pokémon was simply too powerful to control, and it's only after defeating the Elite Four that we come face-to-face with the creature as an endgame battle. While Mewtwo remains a formidable Pokémon, over the last 30 years it's ultimately been outstripped by a vast number of other Legendary Pokémon introduced. Perhaps this is hardly surprising, when you consider we've since met Pokémon who can control time and space, and one 'Mon that is quite literally god. So, as much as I love Mewtwo, let's take a look at five other Legendary Pokémon who would make short work of the psychic terror. Arceus Is Literally The God Of The Pokémon Universe Mewtwo was created in a lab and is effectively mortal. As such, it comes up short against Arceus, an ancient creature that quite literally created the wonderful world of Pokémon. It also directly created Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina, who are also not to be messed with. Obviously, any Pokémon could beat Arceus in theory in the video games. Heck, you could send a Rattata in there to get the job done, but in terms of a lore-accurate showdown, Arceus is simply leagues above poor Mewtwo. Mega Rayquaza Is An Absolute Monster Even if we were to allow Mewtwo to Mega Evolve for this fight in the interests of fairness, Mega Rayquaza would still smush Mewtwo into a sticky paste. In the anime, we see Rayquaza take on Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre at the same time. These are two ancient, primordial forces that could probably each take out Mewtwo on their own anyway, so what hope does a mortal Pokémon like Mewtwo have against a Legendary like Mega Rayquaza? None. Yveltal Is A World-Ending Threat Yveltal is basically winged death, and a naturally world-ending threat that can cause destruction simply by appearing. With its Oblivion Wing, it can drain the life force from all living things. Mewtwo, with its considerable psychic strength, could probably destroy a couple of cities if it really wanted to, but next to Yveltal, it's small potatoes. Eternamax Eternatus Is Ridiculously Powerful Eternatus is a terrifying alien dragon, and the source of Dynamax and Gigantamax energy. Even in its standard form, it would crush Mewtwo, but as Eternamax Eternatus, it just becomes straight-up bullying. In this form, it becomes a storm-generating monster of horrifying scale that could destroy the planet if it really wanted to. Mewtwo would be an afterthought. Giratina Is So Scary Arceus Had To Banish It Giratina was created by Arceus alongside Dialga and Palkia, but it's such a violent and chaotic force that Arceus banished it to rule over the Reverse World. This Legendary Pokémon can go toe-to-toe with Dialga and Palkia, who rule over time and space respectively, so this dimension-shifting cosmic abomination would make short work of Mewtwo. With all that said, Mewtwo is still probably the most popular Legendary Pokémon out of this group, so at least it wins the battle for our affections, if not in an actual physical altercation.
