49ers sign CB Eli Apple, DL Xavier Thomas

In addition to the previously reported signing of running back Zamir White, San Francisco announced the club has signed cornerback Eli Apple and defensive lineman Xavier Thomas.Apple was with the 49ers through the offseason program and early on in training camp this year before the team let him go earlier this month. The No. 10 overall pick of the 2016 draft, Apple appeared in two games for San Francisco last season while on the practice squad.A fifth-round pick in 2024, Thomas has appeared in 18 games over the last two seasons for the Cardinals. He’s registered 2.5 career sacks.As corresponding roster moves, the 49ers waived receiver Junior Bergen, punter Jack Bouwmeester, and defensive lineman K.J. Henry. Henry was waived with an injury designation.
