After reducing their roster to 53 players on Sunday, the 49ers have brought back a pair of veterans who were released and not subject to waivers. San Francisco announced on Monday that the club has re-signed safety Ashtyn Davis and punter Corliss Waitman to one-year deals. As corresponding moves, the team has placed cornerback Nate Hobbs and linebacker Nick Martin on injured reserve. The timing of the moves suggests the 49ers would like to bring Hobbs and Martin back off of injured reserve at some point in 2026. Only two players can be designated for return from IR when rosters are being reduced to 53.Hobbs is dealing with a groin injury while Martin has a hamstring injury.
