3-year-old girl sexually assaulted inside school bus in Mumbai, driver arrested

A school bus driver in Mumbai was arrested for sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl during the drop home route. The case surfaced after the child complained of pain and told her grandmother about the alleged abuse.The child was the last student to be dropped off when the driver sexually assaulted her.A 30-year-old school bus driver has been arrested in Mumbai for sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl inside the vehicle while she was being dropped home, police said.The accused was working as a driver on a private bus hired by the school to ferry students. The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon when the girl was the last student left inside the bus.According to police, the accused picked up kindergarten and primary school students at around 12.30 pm and began dropping them at their homes.After the other students had alighted at their respective destinations, the three-year-old girl was left alone in the bus with the driver. Police said that the accused took advantage of the situation and sexually assaulted the child inside the vehicle.The incident came to light after the girl reached home and complained of abdominal pain. She then told her grandmother that the "driver uncle" had troubled her inside the bus, following which the family alerted the authorities.Police subsequently took the accused into custody and arrested him in connection with the assault.The accused was produced before a court on Thursday.
