The girl, identified as Neha, remained trapped inside the borewell as teams worked to bring her out safely.The incident came to light after Neha, who was playing with other children, accidentally fell into the borewell. Locals alerted the police, following which police teams reached the spot and launched rescue efforts. Fire brigade personnel, an advanced support ambulance and the civil surgeon were also deployed at the site.The borewell reportedly belongs to the municipal corporation and had been lying unused for around 10 years. According to the information available, it had earlier been covered with a lid, but the lid had gone missing a few days ago.Rescue teams have been digging around the borewell and carrying out other procedures to reach the child. Oxygen is also being supplied inside the borewell to help the girl breathe. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was called in and its team joined the rescue operation. Neha's father, Ramdeen, who works as a labourer, said he was informed about the incident by someone and rushed to the spot. The child reportedly fell into the borewell around 5.30 pm, and the rescue operation had continued for nearly six hours without her being brought out.- Ends
