Three youths were arrested by the Attapur Police in Hyderabad for allegedly performing dangerous bike stunts and speeding on a public road while recording the acts and uploading the videos on Instagram, police said.The incident took place on the night of October 6 near Attapur Pillar No. 257, close to a Flipkart warehouse. During routine patrolling, police came across a social media video showing three youths riding Honda Dio scooters on the road.According to police, the riders were travelling on three scooters - one white and blue and two grey – and none of the vehicles had registration number plates. The youths were seen riding at excessive speed and performing dangerous stunts, creating a potential risk to other motorists and pedestrians.Police said the videos were subsequently circulated on social media, prompting them to trace the riders. Based on a complaint filed by Attapur Patrol Car In-charge K Anjaneyulu, police registered a case under Crime No. 1072/2026. The case was filed under Sections 281, 125 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.THREE RIDERS ARRESTEDThe accused were identified as Md Mohinudin, also known as Mohin, 24, Mohammed Rizwan, 21, and Tohid, 19. All three are residents of Hyderabad, police said. Investigators used the social media footage along with other available evidence to identify the riders and establish their involvement, police said. The three were subsequently arrested.Police said dangerous riding and speeding on public roads not only violate traffic rules but can also put the lives of other road users at risk. Authorities have been increasingly monitoring videos posted on social media in which motorists perform stunts or engage in reckless driving to gain views and followers.POLICE ISSUE WARNING OVER SOCIAL MEDIA STUNTSAttapur Police warned that speeding, dangerous riding, riding without registration plates, driving on the wrong side of the road and performing stunts on public roads would invite stringent legal action.The warning also extends to roads around the PVNR Expressway, where police said such violations would be dealt with strictly.Police appealed to parents to ensure that children and people without valid driving licences are not given access to two-wheelers.They also urged parents to monitor the social media activity of young people to prevent them from attempting dangerous stunts for reels, views and likes.The police further warned that people found endangering the lives of other road users could be identified through CCTV cameras and social media surveillance.Action would be taken against those found violating traffic rules or engaging in dangerous riding, officials said.- Ends
