Sign in to your ScreenRant account Prime Video subscribers can watch an intense selection of movies this Halloween weekend on the streaming service, ranging from horror to sci-fi and thriller offerings. On last weekend's Prime Video movie recommendations, I went over the exciting elements of films like Masterplan, Scream 7, and The Bride!, with only the first being a Prime Video original movie, following an intricate heist. Christian Bale's The Bride! is the only movie among those suggestions not to be trending on Prime Video right now. At the time of writing, the latest movie in the Scream franchise, Mckenna Grace's Scream 7, is the 10th most-watched film on Prime Video in the United States. Stanley Tucci's Masterplan fares better, standing at 7th on the coveted chart. Last weekend's list had two horror options. Taking into account how this is Halloween weekend on Prime Video, I decided to repeat that with another set of horror recommendations for subscribers. One of those stars is David Corenswet, who has become famous worldwide for playing Superman in James Gunn's DC Universe, a role he will return to in 2027's Man of Tomorrow. Choose the movie with the higher Rotten Tomatoes score. Corenswet is not the only star present in a horror movie on this weekend's Prime Video movie recommendations, as names like genre favorite Mia Goth also appear. Joining them is a survival horror thriller that is taking over Prime Video's charts and Chris Pratt's sci-fi action thriller that has become a timely pick. These are the best movies to watch on Prime Video this weekend: 3 Pearl (2022) First up is Pearl, which has quickly turned into a must-watch for horror fans. After all, in chronological order, it is the first movie in the hit X slasher franchise directed by Ti West and starring Mia Goth in multiple roles. Pearl follows Goth as the title character, a young woman who dreams of becoming a movie star, but wrestles with life on an isolated Texas farm and a darkness brewing within. Pearl is a movie that will make viewers both feel for Goth's character and become scared of her, setting up the character's older turn as a villain in the next movie in the franchise chronologically, X. Pearl is one of Corenswet's projects from before he was cast as Superman, and fans of the DC star should appreciate the charming performance the actor puts on. That said, Pearl gets quite bloody and grim by the end. 2 Hungry (2026) The next movie on the list is Hungry, which arrived on Prime Video on October 1. Now, at the end of the month, the survival thriller has broken into the streaming service's US chart, with Hungry being the 2nd most popular movie on Prime Video nationwide at the time of writing. This is an animal horror movie, where tourists have to face against a berserker hippo. Hungry takes place in the Louisiana swamplands, with a boat that veers off track finding a hippo that was abandoned there when international traders tried to introduce the species to the region many years ago. Get ready to learn just how scary a beast a hungry hippo can be, as the R-rated survival thriller is an intense, nerve-wracking affair with plenty of deaths. 1 The Tomorrow War (2021) Finally, the only non-horror movie on our Prime Video recommendations for Halloween weekend is Chris Pratt's The Tomorrow War. The movie is a sci-fi action thriller that sees the Marvel star play Dan Forester, a former Green Beret who is conscripted to fight a war in the year 2051 alongside other time travelers as aliens threaten to wipe out humanity. The Tomorrow War comes with a talented cast that includes names like J. K. Simmons, Betty Gilpin, Yvonne Strahovski, and more. This is an action-packed sci-fi movie with many explosive moments, an intriguing time travel approach, and exciting alien designs. Since Pratt's The Terminal List season 2 was released on Prime Video on October 21, becoming one of the streamer's biggest TV shows worldwide, the timing is perfect to follow that up with The Tomorrow War on Prime Video this weekend.
