On last weekend's Prime Video movie recommendations, I talked about the new Prime Video original movie The Devil's Mouth, Tom Holland's video game adaptation Uncharted, and the spy thriller The Amateur. It just so happens that all three of those movies continue to be timely releases for Prime Video subscribers. After all, the films are still trending on the streaming service nationwide. At the time of writing, Uncharted is at 7th, likely borrowing some of Spider-Man: Brand New Day's theatrical thunder. The Devil's Mouth, which rules Prime Video's global chart, per FlixPatrol, is 3rd in the US. The best performer out of the bunch is The Amateur, a star-studded spy thriller with Rami Malek, Jon Bernthal, Rachel Brosnahan, and many more, which stands in 2nd. Based on the success of those movies, I decided that Prime Video subscribers would likely want to get another dose of timely releases on the streaming service to get August started the best way. As such, get ready to watch one of the most impactful sci-fi movies of all time on Prime Video this weekend. Other options for subscribers include a horror film that will have you fearing a very specific type of threat, and an intense romance that became a worldwide phenomenon. Don't miss out on a vibrant weekend on Prime Video. 3 Primate (2026) Starting our list is the only movie among this weekend's recommendations that is trending right now. Primate is currently the 5th most-watched movie on Prime Video in the United States. There is a good reason for that, as the horror movie plays like a thrill ride, with plenty of scares, action, and gruesome moments. This R-rated horror is definitely not for those faint of heart. Primate, as its name suggests, is centered on a bloodthirsty chimpanzee and the people trapped inside the same house as the animal. Initially docile, Ben, the chimpanzee, completely changes when he is bitten and becomes infected with rabies. Viewers will be left completely shocked by some of the deaths and violent sequences in this movie, as Primate is definitely not afraid of getting bloody. 2 Challengers (2024) From an R-rated horror to one of the most popular dramas in recent years. Challengers comes as a nice change of pace for Prime Video subscribers, having arrived on the streaming service nationwide on August 1. The romance is also a timely release, as Challengers stars Zendaya, who is currently a key part of the biggest movie in the world, Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Those wanting to see more from the actress after checking out the new Spider-Man movie in theaters will be met by a true powerhouse performance in Challengers. The movie has some of the best editing in years, with its tennis sequences shot in creative ways, and the love triangle between Zendaya, Josh O'Connor, and Mike Faist's characters — two best friends and the woman they both fall for — is perfectly written and acted. 1 Interstellar (2014) Finally, with The Odyssey soon crossing the $1 billion mark at the box office, those who wish to continue their Christopher Nolan, Matt Damon, and Anne Hathaway streak can do so with Interstellar. The sci-fi movie, which is one of the director's best, recently arrived on Prime Video in the United States on August 1. Interstellar boasts an impressive 87% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The sci-fi epic focuses on Matthew McConaughey's Cooper and a team of researchers going through a wormhole to find the perfect replacement for Earth, as the planet will soon become uninhabitable. Interstellar features talented actors, gorgeous visuals, shocking twists, and plenty of emotional moments. Going out with one of Nolan's finest is the perfect way to end the weekend on Prime Video.
