Sign in to your ScreenRant account Tubi users have seen the arrival of many exciting movies at the start of November, with the free streaming service holding a timely genre entry this weekend and more for those looking for free movies on streaming. On last weekend's Tubi movie recommendations, I explored why viewers should check out movies like the original Scary Movie, the horror Ready or Not, and Sydney Sweeney's The Voyeurs. That made it two horror-related entries, albeit one was a parody of slasher films, and an R-rated psychological thriller for the Halloween weekend, which felt fitting. With the holiday behind us, and none of the three movies currently trending on Tubi's overall chart, it is time to turn a new page, and three exciting movies that arrived on Tubi on November 1 are the ones viewers should not miss out on this time around. One of them is a recent adaptation of a superhero classic, coming with a dark tinge to it, and not being part of the major Marvel and DC universes. As for the other two, they are both sci-fi movies, though each of the films offer a different taste for genre fans. One of them is a disaster film, showing the collapse of the world due to a problem that is affecting all of us outside just movies right now. The other is a dystopian sci-fi movie that comes with an impressive cast and is part of a beloved franchise that will soon return to the big screen with a new release: These are the best movies to watch for free on Tubi this weekend: 3 The Crow (2024) The only movie on the list to currently be trending on Tubi is the 2024 adaptation of The Crow, which stands as the free streamer's 5th most popular movie or TV show on Tubi's Top 10 Overall chart, according to FlixPatrol. This is a new iteration of the superhero story, not being connected to the 1994 movie starring Brandon Lee, with modern horror icon Bill Skarsgård, known for the It franchise and movies like Nosferatu, taking over as Eric Draven / The Crow. 2024's The Crow is a dark superhero movie that is worth watching if you are a fan of brutal R-rated action sequences and gritty revenge movies. After all, the film follows Draven as he is resurrected with a healing factor, think someone like Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, but with a gothic twist, and must kill the man that ordered the murder of Draven and his girlfriend in order for her to be resurrected. Skarsgård's intense performance in a dark hero role, which he does not usually play, is a nice change of pace. 2 The Day After Tomorrow (2004) The Day After Tomorrow became a huge box office hit, grossing $552.6 million worldwide, and has become a classic sci-fi disaster movie. The film takes climate change to the next level, using a real problem that the world is currently dealing with to explore a possible future where humanity would have to grapple with the start of a new ice age. As a disaster film, it comes with a grand scope, filled with impactful moments of destruction and beautiful imagery of a world covered in snow. The Day After Tomorrow's VFX still holds up to this day. Another attractive element of the 2004 sci-fi movie for those wondering whether they should check it out is the film's talented ensemble, with names like Jake Gyllenhaal, Dennis Quaid, Emmy Rossum, and more. 1 The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013) All five The Hunger Games movies released thus far have started streaming for free on Tubi as of November 1, which makes the franchise perfect for a binge if you are looking to get ready for the theatrical release of the upcoming prequel The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping on November 20. That said, I would put Catching Fire at the top of the list as a priority. Not only is it likely the best movie in the dystopian sci-fi franchise, with an excellent 90% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes to match, but it introduces the concept of the Quarter Quell to the franchise. This is an event that happens every 25 years, turning the already sadistic Hunger Games into a bigger and deadlier format. Sunrise on the Reaping shows Haymitch's story in the 2nd Quarter Quell, while Catching Fire follows the 3rd Quarter Quell, and it features names like Reacher's Alan Ritchson, making it a must-watch this month on Tubi. The Crow 4/10 Release Date August 23, 2024 Runtime 111 minutes The Crow (2024) is a dark and gritty reimagining of the original graphic novel. It follows Eric, who is resurrected from the dead to avenge his and his soulmate’s brutal murders.
