The tournament is back at Bellerive Country Club, hosting a PGA Tour event for the first time since the 2018 PGA Championship. The top 50 players this season are all battling it out for the final 30 spots in the Tour Championship next week in Atlanta.This year's U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark holds the 36-hold lead at 12-under. He has yet to make a bogey this week, the first time he's done so over the first 36 holes in a tournament in his career. He has plenty of competition vying for the title this weekend, including Gary Woodland at 11 under and J.J. Spaun at 10 under after Round 2.A week after lapping the field in Memphis, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler struggled out of the gates in St. Louis as he shot a 2-over 72 that had him near the bottom of the leaderboard. He came back strong on Friday, however, in closing with five birdies on the back nine. He's looking to keep his game in form for next week as he's already assured a spot in Atlanta.Rory McIlroy, meanwhile, could use a good finish after his struggles at the St. Jude Championship. He's in a fine spot after two rounds as he sits at 7 under. He's played sparingly this season on the PGA Tour, but a week of sharpening his tools could set him up for a strong showing at the Tour Championship. The bubble battle is sure to heat up this weekend with players like Woodland needing to maintain his strong play to make it to Atlanta.
