2 teens charged in killing of unarmed 19-year-old during gun sale in Tuscaloosa

Tuscaloosa police responded at 12:30 a.m. Thursday to the shooting in the 5500 block of 29th Avenue East. They arrived to find Kaleb Tyrone Rollins dead in the road. Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Capt. Jack Kennedy said the two juveniles were arrested after investigators interviewed witnesses, obtained surveillance video and carried out multiple search warrants. According to Kennedy, the deadly shooting happened during a gun transaction between Rollins and several juveniles.Rollins, who was unarmed, spoke to the juveniles through a vehicle window and then gave them money. The suspects, however, tried to leave without giving Rollins the gun he had paid for. Rollins was dragged by the vehicle for a few feet and then shot and killed by one of the young suspects, Kennedy said. The teens are charged as adults with felony murder. Their names and ages are not being released.Kennedy said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests could be made.
