A structure collapsed during ongoing church construction work in Mandikrishnapuram village in Andhra Pradesh's Chittoor district, reportedly killing two people and seriously injuring eight others.According to preliminary information, the moulding/formwork structure gave way while construction work was underway, trapping workers beneath the debris.TWO KILLED, EIGHT INJUREDTwo people are reported to have died in the collapse, while eight others reportedly sustained serious injuries. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.Rescue efforts were launched at the site to clear the debris and rescue workers who were trapped underneath the collapsed structure. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over Mandikrishnapuram village.The identities of those killed and injured are yet to be ascertained. The exact cause of the structure collapse is also not known at this stage. Official confirmation of the reported casualty figures is awaited.SIMILAR INCIDENT IN HYDERABADThe incident comes days after a separate building collapse in Hyderabad's Madhapur area. On August 22, a seven-storey building under construction in Anjaiah Nagar collapsed onto a neighbouring apartment, killing two workers and damaging the adjacent building.
