2 dead in Maguindanao del Sur gun attack amid gun ban

(PRO-BAR photo) COTABATO CITY – Unidentified gunmen shot dead two individuals in Paglat, Maguindanao del Sur, on Monday, police said. It occurred in a remote village while the election gun ban is in effect for the Sept. 14 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections. Capt. Steffi Salanguit, Police Regional Office-Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) spokesperson, named the fatalities as Ebrahim Mamalinta, 35, a resident of Gen. SK Pendatun, and his brother, Marquez Mamalinta, a resident of Pandag, all in Maguindanao del Sur. SK Pendatun town. When the police arrived at the place of incident, they found the two suspects sprawled beside the highway. Police recovered the victims’ motorcycle, four empty shells from a still-unidentified caliber, and the victims’ identification cards. No one has claimed responsibility, and police are now investigating the incident.
