Whether for personal or work tasks, agents need access to accounts and sensitive information people already use. Handing over a password, secret, or credential is a common shortcut to an agent, but can leave people with sensitive information in places they can no longer control as a copy gets saved for the next time. 1Password for Agents gives people a trusted way to delegate tasks to personal AI agents while keeping control of the passwords, secrets, and credentials those tasks require.Get the latest headlines, breaking news and columns.By signing up you consent to receive the above newsletter from Postmedia Network Inc.A welcome email is on its way. The old model where you hand over a credential and hope for the best doesn’t work,” said Aashish Tripathi, Chief Product Officer at 1Password. “An agent should be able to do the job it’s been asked to do without getting permanent access to everything behind the account, and 1Password provides the trust layer that makes this possible across personal agent experiences.”Privacy and Control for Every Agent1Password for Agents lets AI agents sign in without receiving or seeing the credential. When an agent reaches a sign-in form, it uses a unique digital key to verify its identity to 1Password. The person sees which credential it needs and why, and then chooses whether to approve the request. That approval happens on the person’s own device, confirming that the permission came from them. 1Password then fills it directly into the sign-in form instead of sending it to the agent. Once signed in, the agent continues the task while the password stays protected in 1Password.Extending Trust Across Your Agent of Choice1Password is partnering with the companies behind the agents people are already using, so customers can put their logins to work with agents such as:Muse turns goals into action plans and keeps working as circumstances change, requesting logins from 1Password when using the integration, so people stay in charge of what Muse can reach.Claude Duet works inside the tools teams already use to proactively get work done on their behalf. The 1Password integration gives Claude approved access when needed, so users can accomplish tasks without handing over their passwords.ChatGPT Work and dots work with 1Password to sign into sites across the internet to help users get things done. Users approve sign-ins, and the passwords aren’t exposed to the AI model.Grok Bot provides AI teammates that work across tools, inboxes, and websites. With 1Password, Grok Bot can use approved logins while credentials stay protected, helping you automate routine work more safely.Town gives every user a Townie, an assistant that learns their people, projects, and voice from their email, calendar, and work tools. It drafts, schedules, and follows up for them, and works with teammates’ Townies when a job involves other people. With 1Password, employees approve the logins a Townie needs and 1Password fills them in, so the Townie can keep working without ever seeing the password. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below.“Personal AI agents have the potential to help millions of people get more done,” said John Torrey, Chief Business Officer at 1Password. “Reaching that many people takes the industry working together to build agents people actually trust with their lives and work. That’s why we’re partnering with companies across the personal AI agent ecosystem, so people can use the agents they choose while keeping their passwords in one trusted 1Password vault.”Additional partners working on 1Password for Agents include Browserbase, Browser Use, Dana, Instinct, KERNEL, Perplexity, Ramp, Tomo, and Wajo, with additional integrations to come.“I’ve been using 1Password since 2007 and I’m so happy to have it integrated directly into Muse. Muse is like an AI personal assistant and 1Password gives it safe access to services, at your direction,” said Nat Friedman, Head of Product, Meta Superintelligence Labs. Most of the work people want help with lives inside their accounts, and we know an agent has to earn its place there,” said Ami Vora, Chief Product Officer at Anthropic. “Claude Duet asks before it signs in anywhere, and soon 1Password will complete the sign-in with the passwords people have already set up, so they don’t have to start over. We want that kind of help to feel within reach for everyone, including people who’ve never before let an agent near their accounts.”“As agents take on more complex tasks for users, security and user control need to be built in from the start,” said Glen Coates, Head of App Platform at OpenAI. “Our integration with 1Password gives agents a secure way to access accounts users already have saved in 1Password without exposing sensitive credentials to the model, so you can confidently put AI to work on their behalf.”“AI teammates become more useful when they can work across all the tools people use every day,” said Tido Carriero, Head of Product at SpaceXSI. “I’ve been a 1Password customer for almost a decade, and I use it across all of my teams because I’ve seen firsthand how it helps people securely access the tools they rely on every day. With 1Password, Grok Bot can sign in when it needs to without asking people to share or paste their passwords. You can get more done, while also having the peace of mind that your tool credentials are safe and secure.”“By taking on the work that eats up your day, a Townie frees you up to focus on the parts of the job only you can do,” said Jean-Denis Greze, Co-Founder and CEO of Town. “To do that, a Townie needs access to the same tools you use, and your company needs to know that access is safe. With 1Password, a Townie can securely access those tools while keeping your credentials protected, so security teams can say yes, and people can hand off more of their work.”This advertisement has not loaded yet. This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. To learn more about using 1Password for Agents, the availability of integrations, or building with 1Password, visit our website and blog.1Password is redefining identity security for how people and AI agents work today.
