15 Years Later, This Iconic Zombie Horror Franchise Is Finally Coming Back From The Dead

After The Walking Dead revitalized the zombie genre, there was a massive influx of games focused around fending off the undead, either alone in an engaging story narrative or with several other players by your side. While there have been plenty of amazing zombie games released over the past two decades, the number of entries in the genre currently pale in comparison to the golden age of the past. While some franchises like Resident Evil have managed to stick around and continue to pump out critically acclaimed entries, there's one additional franchise that, after a 15-year hiatus, just announced that it's coming back with a new playable release far sooner than we expected. As announced on the game's official YouTube channel, No More Room In Hell 2 is finally ready for its 1.0 release, which will go live on August 11, bringing the classic zombie-themed survival horror franchise back to consoles after a 15-year wait since the original game came out in 2011. If you've never heard of the zombie killing simulator before, the franchise boats a co-op zombie survival horror experience with up to 8 players at once. Although No More Room In Hell 2 has already been available in early access for two years at this point as it released back in 2024, full release will not only make it available on consoles for the first time, but the developers are also introducing a plethora of new features in the 1.0 update that will make it worth checking out for returning players. To name a few of the additions players can enjoy in the new update, No More Room In Hell 2 is getting a new dedicated survival mode, a new map, a solo survivor mode, tutorials, achievements, weekly missions, expanded character customization, and plenty of more features that make it stand out from other entries in the genre, and even its own predecessor. While the original early-access release for No More Room in Hell 2 saw a mixed reception from fans of the original game for its unbalanced multiplayer implementation, repetitive gameplay loop, and several other technical issues, the full release is already addressing many of No More Room In Hell 2''s biggest complaints, which will hopefully give the underrated zombie survival game a second chance at winning over its playerbase. Even if we'll still have to wait and see if the full release of No More Room in Hell 2 will be able to revive its playerbase and turn the current mixed review scores around, more recent horror games like Resident Evil's immersive zombies have been upping the ante of what the genre is capable of ever since, even if it can't compete with No More Room In Hell 2's expansive multiplayer compatibility.
