Published Sept. 5, 2026 During the second administration of U.S. President Donald Trump, the rights of trans children and adults have come under intense scrutiny. A major target for the administration has been trans people's access to gender-affirming care — a broad category of interventions that, according to the World Health Organization, can range from psychological care to hormone therapy or surgery. Trump's policies come on the heels of years of rumors regarding the nature and accessibility of gender-affirming care in the U.S., some of which Snopes readers have asked us to investigate.
