From its star-studded cast to its propulsive mystery, The Perfect Couple is a TV show impossible to forget. The twists and turns of the plot and iconic characters make it easy to rewatch The Perfect Couple many times over, but it's far from the only series that uses a murder and a gorgeous setting to draw audiences in. Grappling with themes of class while maintaining the darkly comic tone and propulsive crime-drama engine, The Perfect Couple is a landmark show. Though The Perfect Couple is the perfect miniseries, that doesn't mean there aren't other great shows that touch upon similar topics. Only six episodes long, it's easy to wish there were more installments of The Perfect Couple, even if the finale delivers a satisfying end. Fortunately, TV writers and creators are well aware that audiences can't get enough of series like these, and new additions to this subversive genre appear every year. We Were Liars (2025–) Set on an idyllic island where the brewing family drama takes a dark turn, like The Perfect Couple, We Were Liars is one of the best YA shows streaming on Prime Video right now. Based on the novel of the same name by E. Lockhart, the series uses the mystery box format as Emily Alyn Lind's Cadence tries to piece together what happened the fateful summer she lost her memory and her family fell apart. With season 2 currently in production, it's exciting to imagine what new secrets and betrayals are in store. Industry (2020–) When Industry first premiered, it quickly drew comparisons to Succession, but it didn't take long for the show to prove that it wasn't just another copycat. Industry leans into the intricate world of high finance, making it feel high-stakes for audiences who might not be familiar with it. The characters' extreme level of financial success and determination to hold onto power will remind audiences of the interpersonal politics in The Perfect Couple. Industry season 5 will be the final season, but there's still plenty of time to get caught up before the jaw-dropping thriller series reaches its conclusion. DTF St. Louis (2026) Apple TV's dark comedy miniseries, DTF St. Louis, is instantly elevated by its stellar ensemble cast, much like The Perfect Couple. Jason Bateman, Linda Cardellini, and David Harbour lead the project, each committing to the offbeat but compelling tone of the show. A miniseries like The Perfect Couple, DTF St. Louis uses every moment of its limited runtime wisely. With each episode, the viewer is further drawn into the mystery of the series' central murder, piecing together each clue with the detectives. Tell Me Lies (2022–2026) Based on the novel by Carola Lovering, Tell Me Lies recently wrapped its third and final season, finally tying up the loose ends of the complex relationship between Lucy (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen (Jackson White). Though the central, toxic romance between the leads is the heart of Tell Me Lies, the pair get caught up in betrayals and cover-ups as they put everything on the line for each other. Though it can be frustrating to watch the characters get tangled in each other's webs, the drama of Tell Me Lies makes it impossible to stop watching. The Undoing (2020) In recent years, Nicole Kidman has become synonymous with high-drama and endlessly watchable TV shows. Her roles in The Perfect Couple and The Undoing have some similarities, as the women deal with complex romantic relationships in well-moneyed worlds, but Kidman makes each character wholly unique. Hugh Grant co-stars in The Undoing, and the tense chemistry between the two leads keeps audiences guessing about their true intentions until the finale. Though The Undoing is a little darker than The Perfect Couple, it features similar misdirects and shady figures. Sirens (2025) Netflix's recent miniseries, Sirens, shakes up the traditional structure of a dark class satire by centering on a relationship between two sisters who have gone down separate paths. Milly Alcock and Meghann Fahy star as the estranged sisters, with Julianne Moore anchoring the cast as the enigmatic and manipulative matriarch figure. A contained story that pits characters against each other, Sirens clearly drew inspiration from The Perfect Couple in its depictions of the wealthy and powerful. Bel-Air (2022–2025) Fox / ©Peacock / Courtesy Everett Collection The original series, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, doesn't have much in common with The Perfect Couple, but the recent reboot, Bel-Air, leans into the dramatic side of Will's storyline. In the new show, Jabari Banks plays Will, and his struggle to find his place in the complicated environment of Bel-Air is a sharp reimagining of the 1990s series. In Bel-Air, issues of race and class are brought to the forefront, and the show doesn't shy away from interrogating systemic social issues. Nine Perfect Strangers (2021–) Tensions erupt at the isolated wellness retreat where Nine Perfect Strangers is set, and these tensions quickly turn into something more sinister. Each character is harboring long-kept secrets they don't want brought to light, but in Nine Perfect Strangers, no one is above questioning. The show's central mystery takes a little while to uncover, but once the series gets going, it's clear that the so-called strangers are more connected than they knew. Like The Perfect Couple, Nine Perfect Strangers uses location constraints to keep the characters on top of each other for high-impact drama. The Girlfriend (2025) Image courtesy of Everett Collection Perspective is everything in the thriller series The Girlfriend, which sees a young woman, Cherry (Olivia Cooke), go toe-to-toe with her rich new boyfriend's mother, Laura (Robin Wright). Each woman mistrusts and misinterprets the other's actions, leading to horrible lies and violent consequences. Much like in The Perfect Couple, it isn't always clear who the real villain is. A sequel series of The Girlfriend is in development at Prime Video, sparking questions about who will be the real villain in the franchise's next installment. The Five-Star Weekend (2026–) Seacia Pavao/PEACOCK The Five-Star Weekend isn't quite as dark as The Perfect Couple, but longtime relationships are tested and friendships put on the line in the series. Also set on Nantucket, like The Perfect Couple, The Five-Star Weekend sees Jennifer Garner's Hollis bring together friends from different points in her past to a beautiful vacation spot in the wake of extreme loss. It's a more feel-good addition to the genre, watching the characters reconnect with each other and themselves as they heal from the growing pains of adulthood.
