When she's not furiously writing away, you can find her enjoying the next binge obsession with a glass of wine in front of the TV. Sign in to your Collider account Spoiler Alert: This list contains spoilers for Ted Lasso Season 4, Episode 2.Ted Lasso is one of the most heartwarming series around. While the show took a very long hiatus following its third and what was supposed to be final season, fans got a huge surprise when it was announced in March 2025 that the series would return for a fourth. With Ted Lasso finally back, we get to reunite with fan favorite character and also meet plenty of new ones. Ted (Jason Sudeikis) is back with Richmond AFC, but this time, he has a new challenge: he's coaching the women's team. The sports comedy drama has always beautifully toed the line between both genres, touching on mental health in mens' sports in Seasons 1 through 3, then the unfair views towards women's sports in Season 4. Plus, everyone is in new places in their lives, which brings along new stories. But looking back on all seasons and episodes of Ted Lasso to date, a few characters stand out, even if they no longer appear in the show. 13 Michelle Lasso Image via Apple TV When TV shows tend to depict exes from a divorce, they often lean towards an adversarial relationship. But it makes sense that things are not only cordial, but even friendly between Ted and his ex-wife Michelle (Andrea Anders). She always seems to want to support Ted, even when she was in a relationship with their former therapist. The biggest move that makes fans love her even more, however, are her scenes in Season 4, Episode 1. Michelle recognizes the hurt beneath Ted's facade and wants to see him genuinely happy more than he does. She recognizes his professional sacrifices for the sake of their son. She even agrees to move to England with Henry (Grant Feely) so Ted can both pursue his passion for coaching with his incredible job opportunity and still spend time with his son. She's the best ex-wife ever on TV. 12 Mae Green Image via Apple TV Annette Badland does a wonderful job portraying Mae, the stern owner of the local pub where all the football fans go to grab a pint after work, or really any time of the day or night. She's a big reason why it's so popular. She doesn't take crap from anyone; she runs the business like a well-oiled machine, and if she has to give you a talking to or kick you out, you'll be shaking in your boots. But the wonderful hospitality she gives to Ted, the advice, and how sweet she is to her regulars is endearing. Plus, she's as big a football fan as they are. She's the type of woman you wished really existed in England, because if so, that pub would be full to the brim every single night, game or not. 11 Sam Obisanya Image via Apple TV Sam (Toheeb Jimoh) is the type of person fans want to be friends with, the young man who would take the shirt off his back and hand it to you, no questions asked. He has a genuine, good heart. So much so that he was willing to risk millions of dollars to honor his home country and family. He also chose to stay with his team for loyalty even though he could have moved on to a life of luxury. The fact that Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) matched with Sam on a dating app without realizing it was him proves how easy he is not only to like but also fall in love with. He is kind, honest, and sweet, and seeing him follow his dreams to open a Nigerian restaurant, the entire team behind him in Season 3, was lovely. It's unclear where Sam is in Season 4 and if he's still playing for Richmond AFC, since the focus has shifted to the women's team. But he's a face fans would be delighted to see again. 10 Dani Rojas Image via Apple TV Dani (Cristo Fernández) brought pure joy any time he was on-screen in this perfect Apple TV show. He brings a sense of infectious joy, his pure and genuine love for the sport shining through at every moment. The team didn't need a cheerleading squad because it had Dani, who was rarely ever seen without a smile on his face. But beyond his joyful spirit, he was also an incredibly talented player. His tagline that "football is life" permeated throughout the show, and has often been repeated in real life by fans and players. His role was pivotal when he visited Dr. Sharon Fieldstone (Sarah Niles), who helped get him out of an uncharacteristic funk after he accidentally killed the team's mascot. Seeing what she could do with Dani gave Ted confidence in her work. Sadly, Dani is not tapped to appear this season, but there's good reason. The actor continued his real-life professional football career, debuting with the El Paso Locomotive in July 2026. But we're still not ruling out a cameo. REVEAL MY HOUSE → The Sorting Hat Speaks Your House Has Been ChosenAfter careful deliberation, the Sorting Hat has made its decision. This is the house your values, your instincts, and your particular way of being in the world were made for. 🦁 GryffindorYou have nerve. Not the reckless kind, but the deep, quiet courage that shows up even when you're terrified — especially then. Gryffindors don't act because they're fearless — they act because they understand that some things are worth being afraid for. You stand up for people when it would be easier to look away. You charge toward what's right even when the odds are terrible. Harry, Hermione, Ron — the heroes of Hogwarts's greatest chapter — all called the tower with the scarlet and gold home. And now, so do you. 🐍 SlytherinYou are driven, sharp, and utterly clear-eyed about what you want and how to get there. Slytherin has long been misunderstood — painted as the house of villains when it is, at its best, the house of those who refuse to accept limits placed on them by others. You are resourceful, strategic, and you play the long game. You know your worth. You protect your own fiercely. The dungeon common room with its view of the Black Lake is yours — and the ambitions that will take you further than anyone expects are yours too. 🦡 HufflepuffYou are the kind of person that makes the world genuinely better just by being in it. Hufflepuff is not the "safe" house or the "leftover" house — it is the house of those with the greatest heart and the most unwavering integrity. You show up. You work hard. You don't need glory or recognition — you do what's right because it's right. Your loyalty never wavers, even when tested. Nymphadora Tonks, Cedric Diggory, Newt Scamander — some of the wizarding world's finest. And now you join them. 🦅 RavenclawYour mind is your greatest gift, and you've always known it. Ravenclaws are the thinkers, the questioners, the ones who find a puzzle irresistible and a good book better company than most people. Ravenclaw is not merely about intelligence — it's about the love of learning, the pursuit of truth, and the rare courage to admit you don't know something yet. You see the world with unusual clarity and depth. Luna Lovegood, Filius Flitwick, Rowena Ravenclaw herself — all extraordinary, all original. And so are you. ↻ RETAKE THE QUIZ 9 Alice Chilton Image via Apple TV Like a gender-swapped version of Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein), Alice (Tanya Reynolds) is the interim coach of the women's team who it seems no one likes, Rebecca chief among them. When Ted is brought in, she's not too happy to see him, much less a man hired to take a job she feels should be hers. But you see the small signs of Ted being able to chip away at her hardened exterior, the way he did with many of the guys on the Richmond AFC team as well. She clearly has a big chip on her shoulder, and it's evident her story will be pivotal to this season. If she continues to work alongside Ted, which it appears she will, their very different coaching styles will undoubtedly collide. She's one of the most intriguing new characters of Season 4 that I can't wait to learn more about. 8 Leslie Higgins Image via Apple TV Leslie (Jeremey Swift) is the perfect right-hand man, doing whatever needs to be done for Rebecca, Ted, or anyone who asks anything of him. While he initially bent over backyards for Rebecca, even when he didn’t agree with what she was doing, he finally started to show that he had a backbone. He's still the least dominant personality of the bunch, happy to submit to the demands of the women in charge. But as director of football operations, it's his job to keep the wheels turning and temper expectations behind the scenes. One of the best scenes with Leslie, alongside his Diamond Dog meetings with the guys, was when he and his wife welcomed several members of the team into their home for Christmas dinner in one of the most heartwarming episodes of Ted Lasso. It showed how sweet and kind Leslie is, and how important he is to the team, even if he’s often ignored back at the office. His unexpected trip to the Negro League Baseball Museum after finding the American Jazz Museum closed during his visit to Kansas led to inspiration and a hilarious encounter with the host. Leslie provides both comic relief, a sense of relatability, and a reminder that the show is sort of a workplace comedy as well. 7 Nathan Shelley Image via Apple TV Nate (Nick Mohammed) had a major role in the third season as a protégé turned rival. He had a short stint working for Rupert (the late Anthony Head) after losing his way. His inflated ego and insecurities get the best of him until he recognizes his mistake. Rather than being tossed aside, he was welcomed back with open arms. He even made amends with his father and found a serious girlfriend. This may have marked the end of Nate's journey as he isn't tapped to appear in Season 4. But he had one of the most impressive arcs of the show's first three seasons, recognizing his worth, but also learning to appreciate and respect those he could learn from. Nate may have been one of Ted's biggest challenges, and having ended on good terms was a great way to complete his story. 6 Coach Beard Image via Apple TV Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) is the yin to Ted's yang, the perfect companion. He might not have the same infectious optimism as his best friend, but he is there to rein Ted in even though he also has his own troubles. Fans got to see a glimpse of that in the hilariously weird episode centered around a day in the life of his character. His wisecracks and one-liners are sometimes the funniest on the show. But Coach Beard is also someone fans sympathize with, realizing how lonely he is, especially in a foreign country. While he met the love of his life in Jane Payne (Phoebe Walsh), it appears that the relationship may not have lasted. There's a lot to unpack about Coach Beard in Season 4. But one thing is for sure: his talks over beer and in the locker room with Ted will prove crucial to the story. 5 Jamie Tartt Image via Apple TV Jamie (Phil Dunster) had arguably the best arc of the whole series. He was rough-around-the-edges, goofy, and guarded. His ego was as big as his talent, and that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. He was the toughest nut for Ted to crack, but when he did, and it changed the formula of the show to focus more on mental health, it was magic. Even more so, when Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) becomes the unlikeliest of comrades, the pair helped one another through challenges. Yes, even when they were both in love with the same woman. We eventually learn that Jamie's pompous and arrogant attitude both on the field and off stems from the fractured relationship with his father. The most eye-opening moment is when he has a heated interaction with the verbally abusive dad, and Ted helps him through as a fatherly figure. It’s clear Jamie has a big heart. We know from Season 4 that Jamie has moved on to play for Barcelona, so it's unclear if he'll appear this season, but he does not count among the main cast. 4 Keeley Jones Image via Apple TV Keeley (Juno Temple) is another character who completely changed viewers' minds about her. It quickly became clear that it's never good to judge a book by its cover or typecast characters. She proved to not only be much more than Jamie's ditzy girlfriend, but that she is highly intelligent and resourceful, as well as kind-hearted and sweet. Her pure-hearted friendship with Rebecca is a high point of the show, and it continues to be so in Season 4. Seeing Keeley come into her own through Season 3 with her own PR firm and in Season 4 as she works to promote the women's team and show what she's capable of is refreshing for the character. Her going to bat for the women's team in a way no one else has is the epitome of women supporting women. Plus, we can't help but wonder if there's a chance for a reignited romance with Roy.
