Netflix is the streaming home of a 7-season sci-fi series that is all about time travel, and it deserves credit for its 110 episodes not taking the show too seriously, which allowed the genre series to become its best version. Netflix's library of TV shows features quite a few genre offerings. That includes Netflix Original series and licensed shows on the streamer. Sci-Fi is actually one of Netflix's strongest genres when it comes to TV shows, if not the streamer's best. After all, multiple global hits from the streamer come from that very genre. That includes flagship shows like Stranger Things and Black Mirror, foreign hits like Dark, and more. All three of those went on to be successful on Netflix for a multi-season run. Among the sci-fi TV shows that have gone on to find success on Netflix is a live-action DC TV show. That franchise has changed a lot over the years. Right now, DC Studios' focus is on James Gunn's DC Universe, which boasts movies like Superman and Clayface, and TV shows like Peacemaker and Lanterns. Before that, DC's Arrowverse series ruled the small screen. Choose the movie with the higher Rotten Tomatoes score. While it is true that the franchise's main trio of series consisted of solo superhero shows with Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl, the Arrowverse expanded with other interesting topics and characters. One of those shows was DC's Legends of Tomorrow, and all of its seven seasons and 110 episodes are currently available to stream on Netflix. That sci-fi series thrived off not taking itself too seriously. DC's Legends Of Tomorrow Is A Fun And Silly Sci-Fi Series On Netflix That Thrived For Its Approach DC's Legends of Tomorrow is a show that deserves credit for experimenting and adapting to find its best version. Back in season 1, the sci-fi series on Netflix was at its most serious and rigid. That is okay, as the superhero series was still finding its footing. This was the season that did a lot of the heavy lifting to introduce the show's time-traveling elements, like Arthur Darvill's Captain Rip Hunter and their ship, the Waverider. The show also had yet to find its most popular formation, with its nature as a revolving door of DC characters allowing that to naturally happen over time. It is no surprise that DC's Legends of Tomorrow season 1 stands as the sci-fi series' lowest-rated on Rotten Tomatoes. At the time of writing, season 1 sits at a decent 65%. The DC show's second-lowest is a stellar 88%, which just goes to show how much Legends of Tomorrow improved once it started to lean into the silliness that this assortment of DC characters, who were not major heroes in the vein of the Flash, Green Arrow, and Supergirl, could provide with the show's time travel premise. By seasons 5 and 6, Legends of Tomorrow achieved a rare perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score. What started as a dark superhero series with Vandal Savage as its main villain, would shift to a show where a giant stuffed animal, Beebo, could take on a powerful demon. These lighter moments, when Legends of Tomorrow understood that it was free from the rigid rules of the Arrowverse's solo superhero series, allowed the show to distinguish itself and make the audience fall in love with its charming cast of characters. It also led to Legends of Tomorrow having memorable moments. For instance, to this day, many will first think of Legends of Tomorrow whenever Gorilla Grodd is talked about. After all, it was the time travel series that created the viral moment where Gorilla Grodd and a young Barack Obama meet. That said, with characters like John Constantine, Ray Palmer, Sara Lance, and more, Legends of Tomorrow kept building solid relationships with heartwarming moments and surprising twists, which helped ground the more out-there moments of the sci-fi series. It made the sci-fi show available on Netflix a unique release, and that is why DC's Legends of Tomorrow remains worth watching in 2026.
