11 Stanford athletes join Nike Blue Ribbon Elite NIL roster

On Wednesday, Nike announced that it had signed the following 11 Stanford athletes to its Blue Ribbon Elite NIL roster: Lizzy Andrew (women’s volleyball), Jade Berry (softball), Caroline Birkel (women’s soccer), Lizzie Boamah (women’s soccer), Caroline Bricker (women’s swimming & diving), Nico Brown (football), Micah Ford (football), Jay Green (football), Levi Jung-Ruivivar (women’s gymnastics), Tatum Marsh (baseball) and Hailee Swain (women’s basketball). Via Nike: Nike Expands Blue Ribbon Roster With 11 Top Stanford Athletes Per Nike’s press release, “Blue Ribbon Elite reimagines the NIL space by providing leading athletes and universities an unmatched level of collaboration that prioritizes the future of sport and athlete identity. Nike provides individual, personalized support to athletes across its NIL roster, both in their performance and training and in their most important moments away from the game, giving them tools for long-term success across sport, business and culture.” After previously being hesitant to even so much as dip their toes into the NIL space, Stanford is now showing that they are willing to dive into the deep end and fully embrace all that NIL has to offer. What makes this cool for Stanford is the range of sports and teams that are represented. It reinforces that Stanford is committed to all their athletes and not just those that play football and basketball. Looking ahead, it’ll be interesting to learn more about how this experience goes for all the athletes involved and how it shapes them both on and off whatever surface it is that they compete on.
