By no means are these details mandatory, but consider them when shopping.Fit: The overall fit and silhouette of a suit ultimately comes down to personal taste, whether you prefer a slim fit or classic sack suit. That said, there are some common guidelines to follow. Off-the-rack suits rarely fit perfectly and will need some alterations, so you want to make sure to pay attention to certain areas and leave others to your local tailor to spruce up. Make sure the shoulder seams align with your shoulder bones or slightly over them. The chest should have enough room to move around comfortably and the armholes shouldn’t dig into your armpit. While the length of the sleeves can easily be altered, the length of the jacket is a more difficult and precarious operation. Find a jacket that extends to just past your rear. As for the pants, a good suit pant will be constructed with enough seam allowance to let your tailor easily adjust them.Style: You’ll want to keep in mind the style of suit you’re after and that’ll mostly come down to occasion.
