Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports Gohar Nabil launched the third edition of the “10K Race the Coast” in the North Coast, featuring 1,000 competitors from 30 nationalities. The event was held as part of the “Yalla Sahel” activities launched by the United Sports company. Competitors raced along the coastal track in the main 10-kilometre event, alongside 5-kilometre and 2-kilometre races designed to accommodate various age groups, families, and different fitness levels. The race aligns with directives from President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to expand the culture of sports participation, executing the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ strategy to make sports a lifestyle by supporting mass events. Nabil stated that the ministry is keen to support and organise public events that broaden the base of sports practice and encourage a healthy, active lifestyle across society. He noted that the “10K Race the Coast” represents a successful model combining sports and tourism, reflecting an increased demand for sports across different age groups. The minister added that the government aims to utilise sports as a tool to stimulate tourism and support initiatives that reinforce Egypt’s position as a leading regional destination for major sporting events. Following two previous editions, the race continues to establish the North Coast as a hub for major sports and tourism events. The ministry stated that the “Yalla Sahel” initiative provides an integrated experience combining sports, entertainment, and tourism, in alignment with the targets of Egypt Vision 2030.
