100 baby names at risk of going ‘extinct’ in 2026 revealed – it’s bad news if yours ends with a certain letter

THE baby names plummeting in popularity and at risk of extinction in 2026 have been revealed. The list of the top 100 names falling out of favour contains some unusual monikers, as well as some classics. A recent roundup, published by the experts at BabyCentre, looked into the top 1,000 most popular baby names and how much they dropped in the ranking between 2024 and 2025. Sign up for the Fabulous newsletter Thank you! The report shows that Charleigh has dropped the most in the popularity ranking when it comes to girls’ names, with the title down 421 spots. Meanwhile, Kylian is down 512 spots for boys, suggesting that the two previously trendy names could disappear from baby naming stats altogether this year. Names that end in -y look to be dipping out, too. Grady, Corey, Huxley and even timeless name, Harry, have plunged on the boys name list. For girls, Mckinley, Kinley, Brinley and even Abby seem to be losing their appeal among new parents. It’s bad news for D names, as well. Danielle, Dylan, Dev, Dominick, Dior, Daleyza and Dax all appear on the lists. Most read in Fabulous Location-themed names are also on the out, by the looks, with Boston, London and Dallas all dropping spots. Even names that have been popular for decades are getting less popular, including Frank and Sasha.
