Published Oct 27, 2026, 11:00 PM EDT Mark has been a comic book journalist for over 15 years and has interviewed comic book creators like Gail Simone and Caspar Wijngaard. And when he's not writing, he's working on beating his record of 1,200 comics read in a year. October 2026 was a big month for comic book readers. DC Comics' Absolute Superman #24 showed that there is a smile under all of Kal-El’s sadness. The X-Men and Fantastic Four crossover DNX, Magneto showed a side of him that’s rarely seen. During Image Comics’ Redcoat, a new character from the Revolutionary War appears, and it’s unclear what they want. As comic book fans approach the end of 2026, they should expect more incredible moments and storylines to lead into 2027. For example, Absolute Wonder Woman has an upcoming battle with Ares and his kids. There will be more carnage and creative violence in Star Trek: Red Shirts—Ghost of the 21st Century # 3. Those are only two of the comic books fans should be reading in November 2026. 10 Wonder Woman #39 (DC Comics) The Matriarch took her shot at Wonder Woman and won, but it didn’t end there. She then had to fight Nubia, the queen of the Amazons. This was a battle that Matriarch lost after Nubia cut the Green Lantern Ring off her finger. Sadly, things get worse because The Sovereign returns with his group of evil superhumans. There are only a couple of issues left in Tom King’s Wonder Woman, and the fate of the future is at stake. Not only has the Matriarch coming to the past changed the future, but the Sisters of Fate have been involved. Their intervention could make things interesting if they’re manipulating things more than they’re letting on. 9 Infernal Hulk Vs. Spider-Man #1 (Marvel Comics) The Infernal Hulk (also called the Eldest) has defeated Wolverine and made Jubilee and the Fantastic Four part of their monstrous army. Up next to attempt to battle the Eldest is Spider-Man. Unfortunately, as amazing as Spider-Man is, he’s not ready for this upcoming fight. The one thing that should be noticed is that the Eldest isn’t an unstoppable force in a fight. They’ve been beaten physically, but end up winning thanks to their control of the dead and the damned. Spider-Man could end up becoming one of the Infernal Hulk’s pets thanks to Peter sometimes being more spider than man. 8 Absolute Batman #26 (DC Comics) As this article is being written, the groundbreaking 25th issue of Absolute Batman hasn’t been released, but something very telling happened. Writer Scott Snyder has said that he doesn’t want people spoiling what happens in this issue. That means something will happen that will affect the direction of the series. This could mean all sorts of things, like Bruce Wayne going to jail, his identity being exposed, or maybe even death. The latter may seem impossible since he’s part of the upcoming Absolute Universe event (Absolute Justice). However, who knows if part of the team’s journey isn’t bringing Bruce back from the dead. Nevertheless, this isn't an issue comic book fans want to miss. 7 The Land Of Never #5 Mad Cave Studios Writer Steve Orlando is giving readers the darkest version of the Peter Pan story ever in The Land of Never. The best part of this is that no one knows what’s going to happen. Not even the characters who were originally the victims are that anymore. They've taken power away from the leader and may have become the thing they hate. The penultimate issue will have something jaw-dropping that will lead to the must-read finale. Fans of comic books and Peter Pan will want to make sure they catch up on The Land of Never before it ends. 6 Space Ghost Vs. the Herculoids #3 Dynamite Entertainment Space Ghost Vs. The Herculoids has been a dream series so far. The two teams have been fighting a hard-fought war against each other, but neither of them knows exactly what’s going on. It’s a classic story, but writer David Pepose has made it an exciting tale to follow. On top of the brilliant writing is the art of Jonathan Lau. He’s made the action look like one of the most destructive space battles ever, and helped remind readers that the Herculoids are more than an older cartoon series. They’re a force of nature. 5 Avengers #1 Marvel Comics The world has changed after everything that happened in Avengers: Armageddon. S.H.I.E.L.D. is secretly being funded by the United Nations, Captain America (Steve Rogers) is out of his coma, and people are more scared of superhuman battles than ever. Now, it’s up to the newest installment of the Avengers (Spider-Man, Wolverine, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Captain Marvel, and Miracleman) to protect the world and restore faith in them. The biggest storyline that readers should watch out for is the evolution of Spider-Man. Rumor has it that he’ll lead the Avengers, and that’s a great idea. He’s proven he can be a leader in the various Spider-Verse comics, but now it’s time for him to do it with the Avengers. 4 Smile: Any Given Smile #2 IDW Publishing The Smile Parasite may have found its biggest catch to date. It infected a football player who is playing in a game that will have thousands of eyes on it. This is similar to what happened in Smile 2, but this occurred decades earlier. This issue could confirm that the Parasite got the idea to infect Skye Riley from that moment. Along with writer Stephanie Williams’ amazing story are artist Pablo M. Collar and colorist Tríona Farrell. In issue one, they made certain moments eye-catching because they were crucial to the story. It helped make sure nothing was missed in a series where everything is important. 3 Wolverine: Paradise #2 Marvel Comics The first issue of this series had no business being as fun as it was. It was Wolverine in a happier, sillier mood. Even when he was beating someone up, it still felt light-hearted. At the end of the premiere, a new character appeared to help save Dazzler. This will lead to more shenanigans, violence, and who knows what else. Sometimes, a series doesn’t need to have a ton of depth, and Wolverine: Paradise may be that. That’s not to say something deep won’t happen as the series progresses. However, if it doesn’t, it will be an entertaining must-read ride. 2 Transformers #38 Image Comics After months of waiting, readers will finally get to see what Megatron looks like after submitting to Megatronus and coming out of his pupa stage. It was announced at the 2026 New York Comic-Con that he will be called Megatronus Rex. What comic book fans don’t know is what kind of Decepticon leader he’ll be or what kind of power he wields. Both will be revealed, but it starts with Transformers #38. 1 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder #14 IDW Publishing IDW Comics There are bound to be some bumps in the road as Shredder settles into his new role as leader of the Earth Protection Force (EPF). Oroku Saki has been a leader before, and has done it well. The difference now is that he has to run the organization differently, and with more tact. So far, fear has been a good motivator for Shredder as a leader, but that tactic won’t work on everyone. Eventually, someone will come around who isn’t scared of him or may be more powerful. If that happens, readers will see Shredder adjust and become more devious than before. Plus, as great as Shredder is, the world has more weapons than he does.
