Thankfully, while it might not be the most popular horror game out there by any means, this cult classic game has still managed to receive countless glowing reviews that solidify its "overwhelmingly positive" horror game status. While it's rare to see the original game talked about considering it originally released over a decade ago at this point, the developers recently hosted an anniversary stream that not only marks the biggest discount the game has ever seen, but also officially showcased a reveal trailer for its long-awaited sequel coming to Steam. The Cult Classic Horror Game Finally Returns Unveiled on the official Portable Moose YouTube channel, the beloved 2D horror game Sally Face is officially getting a sequel with Sally Face 2. Directly following the events of the first game, Sally Face 2 promises to "continue the dark adventure" by offering another side-scrolling, narrative-driven adventure game with plenty of new puzzles to challenge players, all wrapped up in a nightmarish 90s-inspired cartoon art style. Even with its popularity, you would be completely forgiven for having never heard of the original Sally Face before, which followed the story of a young boy with a prosthetic mask who uses a handheld console to talk to ghosts. With gameplay being a mix of puzzle-solving, murder mystery, and trying to uncover the mystery of the haunted town, the solo developer project offers an unforgettable story filled with bizarre characters. Although the project was technically announced in 2025 when the developer was seeking new members to help work on the sequel, the indie team has grown massively in the wake of its multi-platform releases over the years, which even saw an official board game drop back in 2022-2024 in addition to multiple console ports. Even without an official release date just yet, the lead of Portable Moose, Steve Gabry, has stated that development is still progressing smoothly and is slated for an Early Access release on Steam at some point in the future to let players dive back into the emotional rollercoaster of a series. Sally Face Is A Criminally Forgotten Horror Series While Steam offers no shortage of horror gems worth checking out on the platform, the entirety of the original Sally Face and its episodic story DLC are also on sale until August 23 to celebrate the 10-year anniversary, allowing you to catch up on the entire series for less than $5. Being a relatively short series that can be beaten in about 10–15 hours, the eerie environments and supernatural story of Sally Face help set the indie game apart from its competitors in such a way that it made for a niche cult following over the past decade, which will likely become even more popular now that the Steam series is growing exponentially in size.
