A crowd soon gathered at the spot to see the snake as villagers claimed the python had swallowed the dog before it was spotted.In the meantime, the wildlife department was alerted, following which a team reached the spot and safely rescued the python. It was later released into a nearby forest.Wildlife officials cautioned people against approaching, teasing or trying to catch pythons, as doing so can be dangerous.
