This event is the biggest comic expo in the world, bringing fans, celebrities, and critics together to cosplay their favorite characters, buy some neat merch, and look at all the new panels which announce new and anticipated events, such as the new Black Panther movie. This past year was no different, with plenty of surprises and exciting news, especially for TV fans. That is why this list will rank the greatest television reveals at San Diego Comic Con 2026 based on surprise, fan opinion, anticipation, quality of the announcement, and overall hype. Most of these projects come out this year, so fans had better get excited about some of the best TV in a long time. 10 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians' Season 3 (2023–Present) Image via Disney+ Fans are in a Greek mythology craze after Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, and while it is a different tone, they should get excited for the third season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. This new season will adapt the third book, The Titan's Curse, and the newly released trailer showcased just that, promising an end-of-the-year release date, like usual. This show has been pretty consistent with its releases, but it was still a pleasant surprise to see the trailer announce the third season for the end of 2026. The old movies covered the first two movies, meaning this season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians is the first adaptation to cover this far into the series, meaning now is the best time to get excited. 9 'Lanterns' (2026) Image via HBO DC hasn't had a huge presence at San Diego Comic Con for a couple of years, and this year was no different. However, viewers got one final trailer for the DCU's biggest new project, Lanterns. Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) is a veteran Green Lantern, and Jon Stewart (Aaron Pierre) is his replacement. But the two must play nice after an alien conspiracy involving the Manhunters threatens the peace of Earth. At first, there was worry about how grounded Lanterns would be, but after this trailer, fans don't need to worry about a lack of green. This was by far the best trailer yet, showcasing supernatural mystery, alien action, creative constructs, and a blooming dynamic between the two stars. The new trailer for Lanterns places lower on this list of SDCC reveals, since fans already had two other ones, but this was by far a great way to get excited about the next couple of weeks. 8 'Interview with the Vampire' Season 4 (2022–Present) Image via AMC The last episode of the third season of Interview with the Vampire just came out, but fans didn't have to wait long for confirmation of the next season, which will be titled Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned. Each season has been met with rave reviews, and the fourth season is being set up to be the best yet. This was truly an unexpected reveal at San Diego Comic Con since it wasn't too long since the third season ended. But it is an unexpected delight that fans can eagerly await. The release date wasn't announced, but given the announcement timing and past trends, viewers can expect it to come out in 2028. That sounds far away, but it is a small wait to ensure Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned is perfect. 7 'Star Wars: Detours' (2026) Image via Lucasfilm Animation Star Wars is the biggest media franchise in the world, and while fans were probably looking forward to something bigger at San Diego Comic Con, they got an unexpected surprise. Star Wars: Detours was originally made over a decade ago by the creators of Robot Chicken, but this spoof series is finally seeing the light of day through George Lucas' new museum. This animated series was completed over a decade ago, and with it never seeing the light of day, many considered it to be lost media. However, San Diego Comic Con unexpectedly announced that fans would actually be able to watch this old series at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. Starring Carrie-Anne Moss, Yaga is an upcoming supernatural TV show that follows a detective investigating the disappearance of the heir to a fishery and the supernatural events that surround it. Not a lot of people have probably heard of Yaga, but that is exactly why everyone should get excited. With an excellent cast and intriguing premise, this supernatural drama is bound to be the underrated gem of the year, and the trailer released at SDCC highlights that. 5 'Avatar: Seven Havens' (2026) Image via Paramount+ This has been a fantastic year for Avatar: The Last Airbender fans, who got a new season of the Netflix show and a follow-up movie of the original cast. However, more is on the way in the form of a sequel series, Avatar: Seven Havens, which takes place after The Legend of Korra. After a previous tragedy, the Avatar is no longer viewed as a savior, but a destroyer, which puts the new one into immediate danger. The new season of the Netflix show and the movie were good, but Avatar fans still want something as good as the original series, and this show could achieve that. Korra fans might not be happy, but the story is setting up a dramatic twist that offers plenty of worldbuilding opportunities and fun storytelling potential. Avatar: Seven Havens looks absolutely gorgeous, and the dazzling trailer has given fans hope that this could reignite the franchise. 4 'Neuromancer' (2027) Image via Apple TV 2026 seems to be the year of cyberpunk, as two hotly anticipated TV series were both revealed at San Diego Comic Con this past week, with the first being Neuromancer. Based on William Gibson's 1984 novel of the same name, a genius hacker named Case (Callum Turner) teams up with an assassin in order to pull off the heist of the century against a dynasty corporation. The Neuromancer novel is one of the most influential cyberpunk novels that served as foundational material for the genre, so finally seeing it in live-action is fabulous. Announced in 2024, fans have long awaited a trailer and release date, and in 2027, viewers will finally get to experience this revolutionary cyberpunk masterpiece in live-action. 3 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' Season 3 (2022–Present) Image via Prime Video The Lord of the Rings is trying to get back into the mainstream, and the best bet is through The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. After the events of the second season, Sauron (Charlie Vickers) is now constructing the One Ring to rule them all, sparking wars across the country that will push Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) into a corner, or at least that is what the trailer showcased. The first season was a bit of a letdown, and the second season improved, meaning the third season is heading in the right direction. The Rings of Power Season 3 is jumping into the meat of the content, with many highly anticipated characters showing up and dramatic action about to unfold. The trailer was an epic spectacle and has fans hoping that this will be the best content from the franchise since the original trilogy. 2 'Carrie' (2026) Image via Prime Video Mike Flanagan is one of the best modern horror visionaries, and he had an excellent San Diego Comic Con. A new trailer for his Clayface movie came out, but an even bigger reveal was that he is creating a new TV show for Carrie. This adaptation of Stephen King's most famous novel is the fourth version, but it is the first time that it is being brought to television. Some fans might not want another adaptation of this timeless story, but Flanagan is a horror genius, and it will be interesting to see what it is like as a TV show. Horror movies are all the rage nowadays, but horror television is just as good, and this initial trailer proved that. Carrie is visually impressive and is the perfect spooky show for this Fall. 1 'Blade Runner 2099' (2026) Image via Prime Video As mentioned earlier in this list, cyberpunk is taking over the latter half of 2026, and the most anticipated show is easily Blade Runner 2099. The original movie was a pioneering classic, and the modern sequel was a masterpiece, and now fans get to reenter the world in another sequel, but this time in the form of a TV show. This show has been in development for years, so to finally see a trailer and a release date has gotten fans excited. Led by Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer, it has a fascinating premise that mixes classic cyberpunk motifs with modern themes that will spice up the franchise. Blade Runner 2099 is an early candidate for the best TV show of 2026, making its announcement at SDCC the best.
