10 Best Quotes In Street Fighter, Ranked

Warning: Major spoilers for Street Fighter Street Fighter is a phenomenon in the games' industry, with a rich history spanning decades. The original game was released in 1987. Fast-forward to today, and Street Fighter 6 remains among the most popular fighting games on the planet. It's a franchise with multigenerational appeal, with iconic characters who have become household names and transcended the medium. Street Fighter is also unique because fans of different ages remember certain parts of it more fondly than others. Some fans will always remember standing shoulder to shoulder with a friend, huddled in front of an arcade cabinet. Others may recall their first win online, or pulling off Makoto's touch of death combo after hours of practice in Street Fighter III: Third Strike. The franchise means something unique to so many people. It's no surprise, then, that we have a live-action adaptation in 2026. Recent video game adaptations have worked hard to erase the stigma that such projects are low-effort or doomed to fail. Street Fighter boasts an incredible cast, full of high-profile actors, but it's so much more than that. The movie seems proud of its roots, embracing the source material and its colorful characters. Street Fighter is also quite quotable. The 2026 movie contains some hilarious exchanges and one-liners. It also includes respectful nods to the 1994 live-action Street Fighter movie, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile and Raul Julia as M. Bison. 10 Oops, You Dropped Something Callina Liang plays an exceptional Chun-Li and delivers some great quips. She also looks the part and shows off several special moves from the games, including her iconic Lightning Legs and a move resembling a Spinning Bird Kick. In one scene, Chun-Li is about to meet M. Bison (David Dastmalchian). Juli (Rayna Vallandingham) attempts to intimidate her, approaching her with a staff and holding it to her neck. Chun-Li quickly disarms her. She grabs the weapon, hits Juli with it, and passes it back, saying, "Oops, you dropped something." It's a brilliant scene that shows the iconic game character as someone not to be trifled with. It also sets up an important encounter later on in the movie. 9 That's Honestly The Stupidest Thing I've Ever Heard Chun-Li is recruiting fighters for M. Bison's tournament during the movie. She invites Ryu (Andrew Koji) to compete, but he refuses, saying, "The path I'm on now is not one of combat." Chun-Li immediately knows how ridiculous that line is coming from Ryu and kicks him to the ground. After he lands, Chun-Li exclaims, "That's honestly the stupidest thing I've ever heard." It's a funny line because Ryu is clearly in denial, and it took a kick from Chun-Li as a wake-up call. Ryu is battling his own demons in the movie, and it takes someone to literally knock sense into him to return to the fray. Chun-Li's line makes the list because, while it isn't the most Street Fighter-specific quote, it's part of an entertaining scene and is appropriate, even if it is more generic than some other lines on this list. 8 You're Not A Warrior Anymore, You're A Sideshow Chun-Li is one of the main characters in Street Fighter, with more screen time than some other notable fighters on the roster. Alongside attempting to entice Ryu into the tournament, Chun-Li also approaches Ken (Noah Centineo). Ken is clearly a skilled brawler at the start of the movie, but he's washed up and a shadow of his former self. Chun-Li calls him out on this, saying, "You're not a warrior anymore, you're a sideshow." It's a harsh line, but something Ken needed to hear. He ultimately joins the tournament roster, with something to prove. Ken is almost always portrayed as a skilled fighter in the games, though his circumstances do change between titles. Even in the latest game, Ken is relegated to working at a construction site instead of on the stage as a respected martial artist. 7 Oh, I Don't Know, Dan! Do You Know Anyone Who Fights In This Tournament With A Claw Hand? Credit: Mark Rogers /© Paramount Pictures /Courtesy Everett Collection Cody Rhodes doesn't feature heavily in the movie as Guile, but he is responsible for several standout moments. In one scene that also made the trailers, Dan (Andrew Schulz) notices Guile has three claw marks across his face and asks what happened. Guile shouts back, "Oh, I don't know, Dan! Do you know anyone who fights in this tournament with a claw hand?!" It's a hilarious exchange because Guile looks genuinely furious that Dan asked him a question with such an obvious answer. Vega (Orville Peck) and Guile brawl in a nightclub early in the movie, where Guile uses his classic Flash Kick to smash Vega through a wall. They also presumably battle in the tournament where Guile picked up his injury. 6 Still Reckless Ken is not pleased to see Ryu when they first meet in Street Fighter 2026. Ryu lets himself into Ken's hotel room. He wants to talk, but Ken clearly isn't interested, and he launches himself at his former friend. Ryu effortlessly dodges out of the way as Ken's flying kick misses, and he lands on the table. Ryu calmly looks at Ken and says, "Still reckless." Arguably one of the best fights in Street Fighter ensues as Ken chases Ryu around the room, trying and failing to hit him. Ken is more hot-headed and reckless than Ryu in the lore. The movie explains the rift between the two fighters, so Ken's reaction to seeing Ryu feels on-brand for the character. "Still reckless" is also an impactful line considering how Ken's character grows througout the movie. 5 It's Not A Beauty Pageant, Vega. But If It Was... We've already mentioned that Cody Rhodes is hilarious as Guile, even if his demeanor doesn't match the more serious fighter from the games. During a nightclub scene, Guile quips at Vega, "It's not a beauty pageant, Vega. But if it was..." It's a funny line, even if it's off base for Guile. It also hints at some established lore for the masked fighter. Vega is obsessed with elegance and beauty in the games, and several of his win quotes hint at that trait across multiple titles. In Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, Vega is a sadistic assassin and attempts to kill Chun-Li. He takes off his mask during the fight and is clearly enraged when his opponent hits him in the face. In Street Fighter V, Vega also quips about Guile's hairstyle, calling it revolting. 4 Smells Like Hot Dogs © Paramount Pictures /Courtesy Everett Collection Blanka is a wild character in Street Fighter 2026, played by Jason Momoa. He's a massive, hulking, green beast in the movie and looks very different from his character in the games, though he is still immediately recognizable. Blanka fights Ryu in a prison surrounded by electric fences and convicts. Before the fight, Blanka scratches his armpit, sniffs his fingers, and says, "Smells like hot dogs." It's a weird line, and memorable because it's so strange. The line doesn't appear in the games, and Blanka never explicitly mentions hot dogs. However, he does have several food-related victory lines. It's unclear whether that's an intentional loose link, but Blanka is an unpredictable character in the movie, so it fits. 3 He Keeps Going On About Your Thighs. I Don't See What The Big Deal Is One exchange that featured in several trailers was between Cammy (Mel Jarnson) and Chun-Li. In the movie, Cammy works for M. Bison, and her relationship with him seems similar to the older Street Fighter games. Chun-Li is preparing to meet M. Bison at the tournament, but finds Cammy instead. Cammy approaches her and says, "He keeps going on about your thighs. I don't see what the big deal is." The line works because it's an obvious jab at Chun-Li's character design in the games. Chun-Li's iconic special moves include the Spinning Bird Kick and Lightning Legs. Stylish kicks are integral to Chun-Li, and large thighs have remained synonymous with her appearance since her inception. 2 To Live Is To Fight. To Fight Is To Live PARAMOUNT PICTURES, CAPCOM AND LEGENDARY "To live is to fight. To fight is to live" is a phrase uttered multiple times between Ken and Ryu. One character says the first sentence, and the other responds with the second. The line matters because it reveals something about both fighters' origins. Ken and Ryu both trained under Gouken, and fighting was everything to them. Ryu walks away from that lifestyle after the original tournament, but fighting remains a defining part of both characters. The quote is also a reference to the games, though not the most recent Street Fighter 6. "To live is the fight, to fight is to live!" is one of Ryu's victory quotes in the Marvel Super Heroes VS Street Fighter video game. 1 For You, This Is The Day You Die. For Me, It's Tuesday Even the most ardent fans would agree that the original Street Fighter movie takes some strange liberties with the source material. Street Fighter 1994 is arguably still worth watching, and David Dastmalchian's Bison delivers a line fans of the 90s movie will immediately recognize. In the original live-action movie, Chun-Li accuses Bison of attacking her village and murdering her father. Bison replies that he doesn't remember. He then says, "For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday." It's arguably the best line in the entire movie. M. Bison briefly fights Chun-Li in the new Street Fighter movie. After their short encounter, he says, "For you, this is the day you die. For me, it's Tuesday." It's a respectful throwback, and different enough that it still lands. The line fits the scene and Dastmalchian's interpretation of the legendary villain.
