10 Airlines Launching Incredible 29 New US-Europe Long-Haul Routes: Full List

He is based near London, UK. As winter rapidly approaches, airlines are increasingly announcing new routes between the US and Europe and finalizing their other plans. Comparing what operated in July 2026 with what's currently scheduled for July 2027 shows that 29 new and returning links will be available. This is based on Cirium Diio data. 13 routes that existed in that peak summer month this year will not operate in 2027. They include Aer Lingus to Denver and Minneapolis, Air France to Denver, Level to Boston and Los Angeles (only two US routes are now scheduled), British Airways from London Heathrow to Orlando, and American Airlines between Dallas and Zurich. Of course, things could change. European Carriers Will Begin Seven US Routes (For Now) Unsurprisingly, they have all been previously revealed, but not necessarily for long. Some were even discussed on October 8, as in the case of the Air France and Icelandair additions. As such, this article simply summarizes what is planned when writing. It is likely that other markets will be announced soon. The inclusion of British Airways from London Heathrow to Tampa is contentious, as flights will simply switch from London Gatwick later this month. Nonetheless, it is a brand-new airport pair for the airline, although it is not a new market overall, as Virgin Atlantic already operates from the UK's busiest airport. Some of the airport pairs are brand-new, which makes them especially noteworthy. There's TAP Air Portugal between Lisbon and Orlando, along with Air France from Paris CDG to both Nashville and San Diego (the latter has only ever had conference-related services, not a regular operation). Others are returning after a good absence, albeit with a new carrier. They include Düsseldorf to Newark (last flown by Eurowings in 2020; previously flown by Lufthansa and Continental) and Reykjavík Keflavík to St. Louis (previously served by the now-defunct WOW Air in 2019). La Compagnie's arrival in Düsseldorf will mark the first time that the city has had regular US flights in seven years. They include American Airlines between Philadelphia and Porto and Vienna, the latter becoming the US's longest nonstop Airbus A321XLR service so far, along with Alaska Airlines from its growing Seattle hub to Athens. At 5,384 nautical miles (9,971 km), the link to Greece will be Alaska Airlines' new longest-ever route, at least for now, although the distance is likely to be exceeded relatively soon. Hopefully, the initial results will not be as low as for two of the airline's other European routes. A problem with Athens is that it is, of course, massively about leisure travel. With 34,000 passengers, it is Seattle's largest unserved European destination. The lack of premium travel means that the average fare is only 2% higher than from New York JFK, despite covering 25% more distance and thus being considerably more expensive to operate. Network development to the Sardinian city of Olbia has been even quicker, with no transatlantic flights until Delta's arrival from JFK in 2026. Now it'll have two US carriers.
