1-800-MIKEY – “Pleasant Morning”

Recording and performing under the name 1-800-MIKEY, Sydney's Michael Barker (also of Gee Tee and RMFC) is on the poppier end of the vital Australian punk/garage rock scene. He announced In Yun, his new album for Goner Records, a few weeks back with the release of lead single "Me And My Only," a lo-fi power-pop heater that dares to imagine what the Buzzcocks might sound like with Thin Lizzy riffs. He's back today with another gem. On "Pleasant Morning," amidst guitars that crunch and cascade, Barker sings melodiously about his unwillingness to let a real good day be disturbed.
