Although PC gaming is quickly becoming the best way to play games nowadays (especially with PlayStation and Xbox shooting themselves in the foot constantly), there are still some bad parts to it. Without a doubt, one of the best examples of this is Denuvo DRM, which has become the scourge of triple-A releases. For those who don’t know, Denuvo Anti-Tamper is an anti-piracy software that has been proven to impact the performance of pretty much every game that uses it. It’s incredibly hated, which is why a lot of games, 007 First Light included, try to hide its inclusion. Now, nearly two months after launch, First Light has suddenly gone ahead and ditched it. Denuvo Has Been Removed From 007 First Light Bond’s Latest Game Was Cracked Two Weeks After Launch 007 First Light’s first major update dropped yesterday, adding in a bunch of new content and fixing a number of glitches. As pointed out by Notebookcheck, though, that wasn’t the most interesting change in the patch, as SteamDB suggests that Denuvo DRM has been completely removed from First Light. It’s not just the changelist for the latest update that indicates Denuvo’s removal, either, as the infamous yellow box saying “Incorporates 3rd-party DRM: Denuvo Anti-Tamper" is nowhere to be seen on First Light’s Steam page. Interestingly, IO Interactive doesn’t mention Denuvo in the update’s patch notes, so it’s being taken away as quietly as it was included. It’s not entirely clear why Denuvo has been removed from First Light so long after launch, but it’s worth noting that pirates managed to crack the game after just two weeks. It’s likely that IO Interactive didn’t see the point of continuing to pay for the software if the game was already being pirated so quickly after its release. Whatever the case, it's definitely a good thing for First Light.
